\"\"<\/a>PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- The worst of Tropical Storm Debby has left the \u00a0Punta\u00a0Gorda area, allowing City officials to reopen most streets. High tide \u00a0hit the\u00a0City at about 9:40 a.m. today, and it didn’t cause the same heavy \u00a0flooding\u00a0that had resulted in numerous street closures throughout the last 72 \u00a0hours. Most streets will remain open unless conditions deteriorate. City officials will be monitoring the streets, especially during high tides and \u00a0heavy\u00a0rain falls.<\/p>\n

With that being said, the speedways front parking area is one of \u00a0the areas\u00a0under water, as it sits somewhat lower than the new road that was \u00a0put in\u00a0cutting across the front of the speedway. \u00a0As of now, it is unsafe to drive\u00a0into \u00a0the speedways parking lots and it will take more than a day or 2 of no\u00a0rain at \u00a0all to become safe to drive on. The speedway owner will not put the\u00a0fans or \u00a0drivers in an unsafe situation and regrets that this week\u2019s racing\u00a0for June \u00a030th will have to be cancelled. All races and championship night \u00a0will be rescheduled for July 7th .<\/p>\n

Punta Gorda Speedway \u00a0regrets any inconvenience this has \u00a0caused, but it is\u00a0out of our hands and we will keep rescheduling until we get \u00a0this huge\u00a0championship night of racing in.\u00a0The Punta Gorda Speedway would like to \u00a0thank our drivers, crews and fans\u00a0for their continued support and look forward \u00a0to seeing everyone at our\u00a0mid-season championship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
