{"id":1116,"date":"2010-04-06T22:07:31","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T22:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=1116"},"modified":"2010-04-06T22:07:31","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T22:07:31","slug":"monster-energy-drink-night-brings-late-models-back-to-volusia-speedway-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/upcoming-events\/monster-energy-drink-night-brings-late-models-back-to-volusia-speedway-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Monster Energy Drink Night Brings Late Models Back To Volusia Speedway Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: #000000; font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: #000000; font-size: x-small;\"><strong>by VSP Media<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nBARBERVILLE, FL- The Daytona Dodge-Chrysler Late Models will return to action this Saturday night along with four other divisions as Volusia Speedway Park presents &#8220;Monster Energy Drink Night&#8221; at the southeast&#8217;s fastest half mile!\u00a0 Joining the late models will be the Budweiser Modifieds, the Daytona Sportswear Street Stocks, the Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants Thunder Stocks, plus the 4 Cylinder Challengers.\u00a0 Everyone will be eligible for free Monster Energy Drink Giveaways, and the kids will get into the competition with a Kids&#8217; Quarter Toss!<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks ago Ocala&#8217;s Ivedent Lloyd Jr. spoiled David Clegg&#8217;s party when a late race caution set up Lloyd on Clegg&#8217;s rear bumper.\u00a0 Ivedent Lloyd made the pass and raced to a convincing victory over the rest of the Daytona Dodge-Chrysler Late Models that night, and with a week off to think about it David Clegg certainly will be looking to prevent that scenario from happening again this weekend.\u00a0 Clegg is still the points leader going into this weekend&#8217;s action, but Joe Kump and Jason Davis are only 29 and 30 points behind him, respectively.<\/p>\n<div>Current points leader Jamie Carter got the better of the field when the Budweiser Modifieds went racing this past Saturday night, grabbing a victory over Chip Owen and James Smith.\u00a0 Carter hopes to keep the streak going, while Jeff Mathews\u00a0will be looking to avoid the sort of troubles that took him out of the race while he was in the process of building a commanding lead.\u00a0 Mathews now has a 44 point deficit to overcome if he wants to catch Carter, and he will have his 33 machine primed and ready to race this Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>The Daytona Sportswear Street Stocks will fight it out to see if Trevor Gamble of DeLeon Springs can rack up another first place trophy.\u00a0 Gamble overcame Phillip Brown and Bubba Christian to seal the win last week, and will be ready to defend his victory this Saturday night, and build his lead in the points battle as well.\u00a0 Phillip\u00a0Brown trails Gamble by 43 points going into this week&#8217;s\u00a0races, while Mike Eubanks is\u00a060 points behind the leader.<\/p>\n<p>Fans leaving Volusia Speedway last Saturday night only thought that they knew who won the Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants Thunder Stock race as they saw Randy Strehle celebrating in Victory Lane.
