{"id":1056,"date":"2010-03-29T17:39:02","date_gmt":"2010-03-29T17:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/race-results\/emily-chaney-wins-ms-vsp-lloyd-tops-daytona-dodge-chrysler-jeep-late-models-at-volusia-speedway-park\/"},"modified":"2010-03-29T17:39:25","modified_gmt":"2010-03-29T17:39:25","slug":"emily-chaney-wins-ms-vsp-lloyd-tops-daytona-dodge-chrysler-jeep-late-models-at-volusia-speedway-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/race-results\/emily-chaney-wins-ms-vsp-lloyd-tops-daytona-dodge-chrysler-jeep-late-models-at-volusia-speedway-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Emily Chaney wins Ms VSP, Lloyd tops Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Late Models at Volusia Speedway Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>VSP MEDIA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Barberville, FL\u00a0 (March 27, 2010)\u00a0 Another perfect spring night greeted fans and drivers at Volusia Speedway Park.\u00a0 Not too cold nor too hot, just right.<\/p>\n<p>Emily Chaney won the Ms Volusia Speedway Park contest and quickly began her duties Saturday night as she handed out the winning trophys and\u00a0feature winner hats to the winners and posed with the winning driver.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 April Gray won first runner up.<\/p>\n<p>Winning the heat races on Saturday night were Jason Davis and Ivedent Lloyd in the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Late Model Division.\u00a0 The Taylor Racing Products Sportsman class saw Sammy Ashley and Steve Shead win their two heat races.\u00a0 The Amsoil Thunder Stocks had three heat races with David Whitt,\u00a0 Chad Scranton and Scott Mooers taking the wins.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 4 Cylinder Challenger class also had three heats with Shawn Kosier, RJ Glaser and Thomas Parker taking their heat wins.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty three Amsoil Thunder Stocks signed in the pit gate to race but after the heat races, only eighteen ran the feature.\u00a0 Randy Strehle had the pole for the 20 lap feature with Luke Sadler on the outside pole.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Strehle took the early lead but it was Scott Mooers who took over on lap 3 and never looked back.\u00a0\u00a0 With only a few cautions to stop the action, Mooers sailed to the checkered followed by Randy Strehle, David Whitt, Ryan Lisak, and D.J. Nobles.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, the Thunder Stock class was new to Volusia Speedway Park and has grown weekly every since then which was shown Saturday night in the very nice car count brought in by the Thunder Stocks.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Watch this class as it continues to grow and grow.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Mini Sprints made their first appearance of 2010 at Volusia Saturday night with 20 sprints.\u00a0\u00a0 Jesse Teed took the early lead but it was Brett O&#8217;Donnell, the 2009 Rookie of the Year, that showed he had the right stuff Saturday night.\u00a0 O&#8217;Donnell took over the point and there was no catching him although Teed tried very hard.\u00a0 O&#8217;Donnell took the checkered followed by Jesse Teed, Chris Pacetti, Steve Crabtree, and Eddie Moss, Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen Late Models took the green with Joe Kump on the pole and last week&#8217;s winner David Clegg on the outside pole.\u00a0\u00a0 Clegg took the lead and kept it until lap 17 when Ivedent Lloyd took over.\u00a0 Lap 15 saw the caution come out for debris on the track which turned out to be the front wheel cover off of Clegg&#8217;s car.<br \/>\nOn the restart, Clegg was able to take the point but Lloyd was hot on his heels as Clegg&#8217;s car began having handling problems.\u00a0 Lloyd took advantage and took over the point and began sailing away from the field.\u00a0 Lloyd took the win for his first feature win of the year at Volusia Speedway followed by David Clegg, Joe Kump, Donnie Chappell, and Bo Allen.<\/p>\n<p>Nineteen Sportsman took the green for the Taylor Racing Products Sportsman feature.\u00a0 Dan Lane, Sr. had the pole with last week&#8217;s winner Aaron Barsness on the outside pole.\u00a0\u00a0 Barsness quickly jumped to the point followed by Lane, Shaun Daugharty, Drew Smith and Steve Shead.\u00a0 As Barsness begins to build up the distance between him and second place, the caution comes out on lap 7 for Blaise Hetznecker and Bruce Birkitt.\u00a0\u00a0 Two more cautions before the race sees halfway involving Karl Haas and Collin Wright and Alan Peacock and Paul Shead.\u00a0 This was Peacock&#8217;s first night back at Volusia after being wrecked at North Florida Speedway before opening night.<\/p>\n<p>On the restart, Barsness and Shead go side-by-side for the point as Shead takes the lead this time.\u00a0 A few more lead changes follow but Shead holds on and\u00a0 takes his first win of the season followed by Aaron Barsness, Drew Smith, Shaun Daugharty and Corey Holley.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Joining the Taylor Racing Products Sportsman for the first time and his first race in a dirt car was Jimmy Norman who previously ran Legend cars at Orlando SpeedWorld and other tracks.\u00a0 Norman said he will be racing the rest of the year at Volusia in his #2 Sportsman.<\/p>\n<p>The final race of the night saw 25 4 Cylinder Challengers take the green with Steven Cox on the pole and Steven Johnson on the outside pole.\u00a0 Debuting his brand new Challenger was Casey Feaster who finished fourth in the feature.\u00a0\u00a0 Johnson takes the point on the green followed by Kosier, Epsy, Feaster, and Glaser.\u00a0 Lap 4 saw the caution come out for Tom Parker who went hard into the turn 4 wall.\u00a0 Parker was okay but the same cannot be said about his car.<\/p>\n<p>On the restart, Johnson and Kosier go side-by-side for the point with Kosier taking the lead this time.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With no more cautions, it was a fight to the finish but Kosier held on to take the checkered followed by Larry Langston, Tony Laporta, Casey Feaster, and RJ Glaser.<\/p>\n<p>Next Saturday night, April 3rd, it is Easter Fun with a visit from the Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt for the kids.\u00a0 On the program will be the Budweiser (Quality Brands) Open Wheel Modifieds,\u00a0 Taylor Racing Products Sportsman,\u00a0 Daytona Sportswear Street Stocks, Amsoil Thunder Stocks and the 4 Cylinder
