Twin 75’s For Late Models Plus Southeast Limited Late Model Series At Greenville-Pickens This Saturday

GP LogoEASLEY, S.C. – (May 12th, 2016) -The month of May builds to fever pitch this Saturday night at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, South Carolina with 300 laps of late model racing scheduled at the historic half-mile.

The Southeast Limited Late Model Series returns to the track with their Pro (100-lap) and Daytona1 Challenger (50-lap) divisions for two big main events, and the twin 75-lap program for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late model stock cars also on the schedule along with the track’s pure stock division.

Since the announcement of this combined late model spectacular, race teams have been calling wanting to understand rules differences and such to see about running in both the series and the NASCAR portions of the show.

“We may just have some limited late models who decide to change over for the twin 75’s and vice-versa,” track promoter Anthony Anders said. “Because we haven’t made our track limited class a NASCAR sanctioned division, our late model teams who meet the eligibility requirements of the Southeast Limited Late Model Series can run both classes without giving up their NASCAR eligibility, which has had some people talking this week so we’ll see who decides to take advantage of the opportunity.” (more…)

Stickler sweeps ADMO doubleheader at Desoto

0509_BRSP_sticklerCody Stickler has made Desoto Speedway his personal playground in J.D. Byrider Open Wheel Modified action so far in 2016.

No one could touch Stickler in Saturday night’s Auburndale-Desoto Modified twin 50-lap doubleheader. The Pinellas County driver set fast time in qualifying and led every lap on his way to dominant wins in both feature races.

Sticker got the wholeshot from the outside pole in the first 50-lap race to take the lead from Josh Todd at the start. In the first couple of laps, Doug Moff was caught in two separate spins and was eliminated when he hit the wall coming out of turn two in the second incident.

Stickler and Todd pulled away from third place Brad Bowman on the restart and were comfortably ahead of the rest of the pack when Chad Rutherford spun just in front of the leaders in turn three to bring out the yellow just before the halfway point. (more…)

Billy Clanton Memorial Next Up For Southern All Stars

SenoiaRaceway_May14_2016_v2FAYETTEVILLE, TN–The Southern All Star racing name last appeared at the Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA., was when the track was paved, well the asphalt series ceased operations after the 2005 season and the track at Senoia returned to dirt and so the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will be back in action at the track for the second Annual Billy Clanton Memorial 50 lapper that will pay $5,025 to win and $400 to start Saturday night May 14th.

This race is in honor of the late Billy Clanton a legend of dirt track racing across the southeast, especially in the state of Georgia where he competed in many Southern All Star races during his racing career. His son’s Shane, Joey and Rusty all followed their father’s footsteps and are very actively involved in all different forms of racing,

The Southern All Stars have raced two times at the 3/8ths mile and that was in 1987 when Mike Head of Ellenwood, GA., took the win and in 1985 when another Georgia dirt late model Hall of Famer Leon Archer of Griffin, GA., took the win. (more…)

LAWRENCEBURG, TN–The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series returned to Ricky Spurgeon’s Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN., and one of the drivers that watched his father race there when it opened, got one of his biggest career wins, Mark Fields of Lawrenceburg, TN., got his first career Southern All Star win as well as a $4,000 payday.

Fields who was very emotional in victory lane said, “He had watched his dad Shorty Fields race this place since it opened in 1988 and he has considered it his home track since his racing career started and that it was one of the biggest if not biggest wins of his racing career.” “You always heard about the Southern Al Stars, they are the ones that were here before all the other tour started, if really means something to me to be added to the list of drivers names that have won races on this series.” said Fields.

Fields set fast time in White Performance qualifying and started on the pole alongside Riley Hickman and at the drop of the green flag Fields pulled ahead of Hickman in one and two and then set sail for the first 35 laps as he worked traffic low and high and left the battle for the races between Eric Hickerson and Hickman who swapped the second spot back early and late in the race, when Hickman got back by Hickerson on the only restart of the night that came after Brett White slowed with ignition problem, Hickman took over the second spot with four laps to go but he was not going to catch Fields in his Mastersbilt chassis Custom Race Engines sponsored by Fields Auto Sales/Doss Brothers/Legends Steakhouse/Superior Restoration. Hickman finished second and moved into a tie for the series points lead with Brad Skinner who came home in the fourth spot behind the third place car of Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., and the first spot went to Scott Cook of Shelbyville, TN. Scott Bloomquist Bests Outlaws in Mountain Outlaw 50 Win

Richards and Madden Battle Side-by-Side the Entire Race

050716_SmokyMt_GraphicMARYVILLE, Tenn.– May 7, 2016 – Scott Bloomquist stole the show Saturday night, winning The Mountain Outlaw 50 at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Bloomquist joins Dale McDowell and Willie Milliken as non-series opponents to beat the full time World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series drivers, a streak that is now extended to three-straight race weekends.

But Bloomquist is also in good company within the series. The former World of Outlaws wheelman captured his 29th win in the series, tying him for sixth all-time – it is his first series win in 2016. Bloomquist won the event last season.

“We’ve been working pretty hard here,” said Bloomquist, who started third. “We tried a lot of different stuff. Last year we had a good year, but not quite what we really wanted. Fortunately, it forces you to get to work.”

Bloomquist began the 50-lap feature on the inside and seldom left the most-inner groove. It was not until lap 9 when Bloomquist’s No. 0 Crop Production Services/ Reese Monument Co. machine made its way toward the lead. Bloomquist, who secured the bottom line, undertook Josh Richards for second place. Richards fell to fourth the next lap, while Bloomquist used lapped traffic to bypass leader Casey Roberts, to take the number-one spot. (more…)

Kerry Madsen Sweeps #LetsRaceTwo Weekend at Eldora

For the Second Night in a Row, Chad Kemenah Finds Himself in Second

050716EldoraPostGraphicROSSBURG, Ohio – May 7, 2016 – It was déjà vu at Eldora Speedway Saturday night, as Friday’s battle between Kerry Madsen and Chad Kemenah seemed to play out again in front of a large crowd at the #LetsRaceTwo finale.

After a pitched battle through the middle and late portions of the feature between the former Outlaw regular Madsen and All Star Circuit of Champions driver Kemenah, Madsen claimed his second World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series victory of the season and the weekend sweep.

“We’ve been quick all year and we just haven’t showcased it. The guys just stepped it up – the car was a rocket ship all weekend,” Madsen said. “Just to get this up here the last two nights is fantastic. It was a hell of a race.”

Madsen battled from fourth in the Dash to share the front row with Daryn Pittman for the feature. As the green flag fell on the 30-lap main event the two drivers engaged in a multi-lap back and forth. By lap two, Madsen was able to get breathing room from Pittman and pull away.

As Madsen began to run down traffic, the battles heated up behind him. Joey Saldana worked for a line around David Gravel for fourth. As the field worked it’s way around, Saldana threw a slider in turns three and four. As he drifted off the turn at the exit of four, contact was made between he and Gravel that sent Saldana tumbling. The crash ended Saldana’s night. (more…)
