Hat Trick for Mat Williamson in the Diehl Mods

Flick, Ferree & Young also find Dlubak Powder Coatings Victory Lane

LernersvilleSarver, PA (June 3, 2016) Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, and then other times it’s just better to be better. All four feature winners in Friday’s Fab4 Racing Fueled by Turner’s Premium Iced Teas were on the better side with a little luck factored in. The action on the track played out beneath beautiful skies and on a surface that kept drivers guessing all night long. AJ Flick took home his second feature win of 2016 in the Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Sprints while Alex Ferree found Dlubak Powder Coatings Victory Lane for the first time this season in the Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models. In Diehl Automotive DIRTcar Northeast Big Block Modified action, St. Catharines, Ontario’s Mat Williamson scored a very difficult hat trick by way of winning his third consecutive feature, and in the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Sportsman division, Terry Young wired the field in the most dominant performance of the night.

Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Sprints

It took 25 laps and three red flag periods to finish, but when all was said and done, AJ Flick managed to stay focused through a period where he was desperately hunting the leaders, followed by a stretch where he had to nail a critical restart and fend off a hard charging Dan Kuriger en route to victory lane for the second time in 2016. Kemenah Defeats Outlaws at Fremont Speedway

All Star Circuit of Champions Driver Holds Off Series Regulars to Win Kistler Engines Smackdown

060316_Fremont_GraphicFREMONT, Ohio – June 3, 2016 – With family and friends cheering him on, Chad Kemenah, became just the third non-World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series driver to defeat the series regulars after he held off seven-time series champion Donny Scahtz to win the Kistler Engines Smackdown at Fremont (Ohio) Speedway on Friday night.

Kemenah, an Elvada, Ohio -native who had not made a World of Outlaws feature at Fremont since 1993, motored around David Gravel just after the halfway point in the 40-lap feature race, then held off a hard-charging Schatz in the final laps to capture the checkered flag.

“That was a hell of a show for the fans,” Kemenah said after exiting his car. “I don’t know how close it was there at the end, but I am pretty sure the fans were in the cockpit there with me. We were the first ones to the checkered flag tonight, and my wife and kids were here to watch it, so this is cool.

“I just can’t thank my whole team enough, they have worked their tails off this year. I have great car owners in Rod and Rita Hunter, and unfortunately Rob wasn’t here to watch this one since he has never won an Outlaw’s show before.” (more…)

Bloomquist Fights off Owens for Toyota Knoxville 50 at Tazewell

Bloomquist Holds off Owens at TazwellTAZEWELL, TN (June 3, 2016) – In a battle of two home-state Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rivals, Scott Bloomquist fought off all challenges by Jimmy Owens to win the Toyota Knoxville 50 at Tazewell Speedway on Friday.

Bloomquist led every lap; the only exception that his car was not in front of the pack is when Owens made a slide job in turn 2 with 12 laps-to-go to briefly take the lead. Owens could not make his car stick and Bloomquist went back around him to regain the top spot.

Trailing Bloomquist and Owens to the checkers were 12th place starter Steve Francis, Dennis Erb Jr., and Don O’Neal. O’Neal rallied after suffering a flat tire while running in fourth early in the race.

Bloomquist went to Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the fifth time this year and extended his all-time series win total to 67 victories. “We were just trying to be careful through traffic and then we went for it. Jimmy [Owens] did a little too much of a slide there and it took him a while to gather his momentum back up. We just turned under him and got back around him,” said the 52-year-old Hall of Famer. Veteran Enfinger Holds off Rookie Cindric in ARCA Thriller at Pocono

Grant EnfingerLONG POND, Pa. (June 3, 2016) – ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards veteran Grant Enfinger held off a hard-charging, hungry rookie to win Friday’s hard-fought General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible200 at Pocono Raceway.

Despite being in the fuel conversation mode over the last 20 laps, Enfinger had to go as hard as he could over the final three laps to hold off Austin Cindric who had been chopping off as much as a half-second per lap over the final 10.

“We didn’t have the car to do it with…we made so many wholesale changes to the car over the week to get here,” Enfinger said. “We were losing fuel pressure with 20 to go…it never hiccupped but we had already made our bed. We pushed ourselves into a fuel mileage situation, so we took advantage of it.”

Enfinger, in the No. 23 Holmes II Excavation Chevrolet, changed four General Tires just once during the race on lap 30, then topped off with fuel on lap 37. From there, Enfinger, who led the final 17 laps, stretched his tires and gas tank to go the 80-lap/200-mile distance. (more…)

Pittman Rallies for Fourth Consecutive Win at New Egypt

Charges From Third Starting Spot to Claim Jersey Outlaw Classic

052416_NewEgypt_edited-1NEW EGYPT, N.J. – May 24, 2016 – It wasn’t easy, but 2013 World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series champion Daryn Pittman managed to charge his way from the third starting position to claim his fourth Jersey Outlaw Classic win in-a-row on Tuesday night at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway.

Pittman, who won this event in 2013, ’14 and ’15, secured his fourth win of the season and first since USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz. on April 18.

“I’ve been really frustrated with myself with how many front-row starts I’ve had this year and as few wins,” Pittman said. “I got up this morning and thought ‘Man, third is where I want to start’ – I just had that feeling this morning that if I start third I was going to win.

“Things went our way and we ended up starting third.”

Pittman had to work around race-long leader Greg Hodnett, who had dominated the feature and the preliminary races up to that point. (more…)

Schatz passes Schuchart with Five Laps Remaining to Win Empire State Challenge

052216_Weedsport_Graphic_edited-1WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – May 22, 2016 – Logan Schuchart led a race high 30 laps but fell victim to a hard-charging Donny Schatz, who climbed from the ninth starting position to take the lead and score the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series victory in the Empire State Challenge at Weedsport Speedway on Sunday night.

The seven-time series champion defeated stiff competition and Mother Nature to capture his second win in-a-row at Weedsport, and his season-leading seventh checkered flag of the season.

“I got all the faith in the world in this race team – Tony [Stewart] has assembled an awesome group of guys,” Schatz said, as raindrops started to fall from the sky. “These guys are unbelievable and we have a lot of fun together. I’m sure they’re ready to get off the east coast because I have been riding in the truck with them and I think they’re ready to get rid of me for a while and have a break.” (more…)

DSC_1527-copy-800x415Salem, IN (May 22, 2016) – Cody Coughlin continued his winning streak with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Saturday night, getting his third series win in a row by winning the Summit City 100 at Baer Field Motorsports Park. For the second race in a row the final laps came down to a battle between Coughlin and leading Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year candidate Dalton Armstrong on a late restart with Coughlin coming out on top by a little over a half second.

“This is great getting three wins in a row,” remarked Coughlin in victory lane. “My crew has worked really hard and given me great cars, I have to thank them and my family for the great support. Sheppard Defends Home Turf; Wins Spring Shootout at LaSalle

Sheppard at LaSalleLaSalle, IL (May 21, 2016) – Brandon Sheppard became the second home-state driver in two nights to visit Lucas Oil Victory Lane with his victory at LaSalle Speedway on Saturday Night. The 23-year-old Illinois native led all 60 laps of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned, Spring Shootout.

The driver of the Best Performance Motorsports/Rocket took his first LOLMDS win of the season over Tim McCreadie, who crossed the line in second in his Sweeteners Plus/Longhorn. McCreadie and Don O’Neal had a terrific battle for second for most of the race. O’Neal came home in third as he narrowly beat current LOLMDS points leader, Jonathan Davenport to the finish line. Shannon Babb was fifth

“The track was pretty good for most of the race. The cushion got a little treacherous, but overall it was pretty racy. Most of the guys I was coming up on were on the bottom. I stayed up top the whole race. Hats off to the track crew for working on this track all night. Thanks to Tony Izzo Jr. for putting on all of these races this weekend.” (more…)
