Putting Smiles on Children's Faces | Let's Do It! By Jane Smith (KNS) It is that time of the year when it is better to give than to receive and as we all know, Christmas is still the time for children, giving, and unselfish love. However, not all children are lucky enough to have parents, but some do have a home where someone loves them and cares for them. Central Florida Children's Home and The Newlife Children's Home are non-government supported homes that do just that, give alot of love and care to these children and now they need your help.
Rick Bristol, well known for his flagging talents from Orlando SpeedWorld, New Smyrna Speedway, Florida Pro Series and all over this state, came from such a home. Rick has sponsored this benefit for 11 years, now raising over $25,000.00 for abused, abandoned, and troubled children to give them Christmas wishes and smiles on their faces.
It does not take much to put a smile on a child's face. It does not take much time to give and in return, you get so much more back. On November 5th, in Kissimmee on Hwy l92 at the Trans-America Car Leasing Go-Kart Track, a "great race" will take place. Drivers only need to bring in $50.00 in donations to race the day away. And the top 5 money raisers will get a nice prize, so don't stop at $50.00 but aim higher. Beat the record of $ll00.00 and you too may get a trip to the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
Right now, this fundraiser is for a home in this area but if we can successfully get drivers and fans from all our tracks, next year each track may be able to have their own races for their area homes and that would be a great present for everyone. And instead of a few smiling, happy, grinning faces on Christmas morning, there will be many and YOU will be the reason why.
Drivers, track owners, crew members, fans start your engines and get that small donation of $50.00 and up to race with the Stars of your local tracks. Fun will be what you get for the day, and happiness in the smiles of children will be your reward.
If you have a donation and cannot come, you may contact Rick Bristol at 407-382-4705 or e-mail him at RBMini68@ aol.com and make arrangements for any money donation or prize donation. REMEMBER, this is a great event for a very good cause and children are worth the time and effort to go a few extra miles for a day of family fun, so COME ON OUT.
Jason Boyd, Brad May, Patrick (Brad's friend and crew chief), Justin Henderson, BJ McLeod, Barry Willoughby, Brian Finney, Kevin Finney, Jonathan Brown, Chad Pierce, Rich Clouser, Bobby Orr, Michael Faulk and all you "Young Guns" and former go-kart racers, start collecting now so you can show your karting experience and help a child's Christmas be MERRY AND BRIGHT. I dare you.
