Sometimes you wonder how they go on. They-- the race drivers, their family, friends, and most of all thier fans. Yes the fans, they are the big losers when an event has to be cancelled due to weather. Despite all the pent up anxiety in the gut of the driver, and the anticipation of his loyal legion of followers, the hopes for the night, the WIN, the trophy and championships, that lie ahead, there remains one true and common thought. "Can we get the race in? Will the rain stay away? And, most of all will everyone be safe?" The whole idea is to have fun!~ Tonight, as I make these notes from the tower, waiting for the rain to stop, I see the gleaming 40-foot trailers that deliver these screaming and mighty machines to their field of battle every Saturday night.
The rain glistens off the sides of the sponsors, painted on the rigs, almost a sign that for tonight, at least, all is lost. Think for a moment of the promoter and the track officials, the re-scheduling that has to take place, and, the most important goal...to maintain the momentum of the evening. Racers and their fans are a hardy lot. They have hopes and dreams that are just as solid as the cars they drive. The fans look for a way to identify, to escape the harsh realities of life and the week left behind. It is for these reasons that disapopintment on the part of everyone is high, when an event must be cancelled. Every attempt was made Saturday night to "wait out" the weatherman, to dry the track, and to go on with the show. The show MUST and will go on!.
This Saturday night, the legions of fans will come back. While no one can control the weather, everyone can dream. The event this Saturday night (August 26) is a DREAM event! The LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN will return for their 50-lap Dash for Cash with a $1,000 to win at stake, and will be joined by a special show for the Classic Coupes. These beautiful replicas of the cars of the 30's, perched atop real race car frames will "get it on" along with the rest of the Bronson Race Series. Be sure to be there, to pursue your dreams and praise your favorite driver. They work hard, for you, the fan!
Thank you all, for your loyal participation in America's most spectacular spectator sport at the " bullring"! Be assured, we will all win Saturday night! Gates open at 5:30; racing is at 7:30 sharp.
