Judi Martin - The New Breed of Motorsports Promoter | Judi Martin, the Marketing Director for the RaceCar College for the last year, has announced her resignation from RaceCar Engineering. Judi Martin represents the new breed of marketing talent coming into the motorsports arena, bringing with her a diverse background of experiences. She says it's time to move on and will seek another challenging position in the world of motorsports.
A 1980 graduate of the University of Central Florida with a major in Marketing, as well as holding a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College, Martin also has spent over two years working as a career counselor. The diversity of her background in marketing, public relations, office management, and strong people skills is just what is needed in today's extremely competitive environment in the entertainment and sports arenas.
With RaceCar College she was primarily engaged in the marketing of the seminars the College puts on all over the Country for race drivers looking to improve their skills in a wide variety of areas. This experience brought her into contact with race teams and other promoters from all around the country.
With the intense competition tracks and racing series face for the entertainment dollar, more expertise is needed and a wide variety of experience is a must for success at filling the seats. Judy stresses the importance of relationship building and says it is the prime ingredient for success, "It's not about the product, there are plenty of similar products competing for the same dollar. It's about people and how you relate to them."
That Judi Martin brings these qualities to the table has been very evident over the last four months that I have worked with her on some promotions for RaceCar College. It's no secret to regular readers of KARNAC.com that I have beat the drum for new attitudes and approaches to marketing motorsports in Florida for some time. Judi is a prime example of what it will take to raise the bar of success and ensure the future of short track racing in the state.
She makes no bones about the importance of co-operative win-win marketing. "The biggest thing that has helped me to build relationships is my background as a mental health counselor. It has created a desire in me to understand the other person and what their needs are and how I can work together with them to help them achieve success and earn success for my business at the same time. It is not a one-way, but a two way street."
Wherever Judi Martin lands I for one certainly hope it's here in Florida. Now that she's got the racing fever, whichever team she joins will certainly be a winning one in the marketing wars of motorsports.
