(Inverness, Fl.05/01/00) With late models having a tough time finding a race track providing stiff competition and a weekly payoff that will justify making the race worth while, promoters Billy Hooker and Steve Ziebarth have put out the challenge to all Florida Late Model drivers to come to where the money is. Opening the season with a weekly $1,000 win purse, it would appear that there is no limit and it continues to climb. Twenty-one of the last 30 races on the schedule are now sponsored and that has raised the payoff for those races to $1,300. As of last week, additional bonuses are available. If a driver feels he is able to win from the rear of the field he can register by 6:00 PM, prior to the race, and collect another $500 bonus from the track and $500 offered from two additional sponsors for a total payoff of $2,300 for the win. A $2,000 win purse for anon-sponsored race from the rear of the field. If a driver races every week he will also qualify for a 3 wins in a row $1,000 bonus that could potentially add up to a total win purse of $3,300. Any driver who feels they can win from the rear of the field must register by 6:00PM to be eligible for the $1,000 bonus with the pitoffice. If more than two drivers register, the promoter will draw 2 names from the hat for the spots. A driver going for three wins in a row will have an automatic rear start if he chooses!
