Lancey Crowned King of the 360 Sprints | For the second week in a row, "Short Track USA" Radio Show proves to be a lucky visit for feature winners. Last week, Jan 29th Art Calkins visited "Short Track USA with Bill Green" and went on to win the 1st Annual "Wild" Bill Revard Memorial Race at Sunshine "ACTION" Speedway. This week the Good Luck continued as Ronald Laney of Humble, TX. visited the studios just hours before winning the highly competitive "King of the 360 Nationals" at East Bay Speedway.
The 28 year old pilot of the Sunbelt Tractor, Griffith Trucking, Humble Paint & Body, Snap on Tools #52, lead 2 laps of the 40 lap final night event. The last two, cashing in on a $10,000 pay day with another $1000 dollar bonus for having raced in last years "King of the 360 Nationals" event. Breaking a string of Gary Wright wins that at times looked untouchable, Laney survived a caution and red filled main event.
As track conditions changed rapidly several front runners were kissing the walls at the first and third turn entrances. Laney ran a steady but quick pace using the middle of the track as his groove, and found himself on the rear nerf bar of Gary Wright with 3 to go.
Making his move through 3 and 4 on the next lap, Leary pulled off a mild up set, as Wright had won last years 360 National event, and both Thursday's and Friday's feature events. CONGRATULATION'S Ronald Leary!!!
