Citrus County Changes Up This Saturday’s Race Program

From Johnny Sanders

The late model race for Citrus was cancelled in support of the United Promoters Series race at Auburndale this Saturday night. The race was rained out last Saturday night, and rescheduled for this week at Auburndale.

With the cancellation of the Late Models this week we had decided to increase the laps and payout for the Street Stock and Pure Stock classes. Both classes will still run heat races and then 35 lap features.

Well, once the Modified Mini Stocks found out, they wanted in on the action too! So, we’ll do a 35 lap Modified Mini Stock race with the same payout as the Street Stock race listed below:

This is a week for the Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Mod Mini Stocks be the headline event.

(Pure Stocks) Your class sponsor, Taylor Made Homes, has put up an additional $200 bonus for a driver start dead last and win the feature. Details will be revealed at the Drivers meeting on Saturday. That’s the possibility of $450 to win!

(Mod MiniStocks) Advanced Waste Solutions has put up an additonal $100 to a driver that will start last and win the feature. Details will be revealed Saturday at the drivers meeting.

As posted below, we have made the Street Stock and Pure Stock & Mod Mini stock races 35 laps for a 50 lap payout.

Citrus County Speedway gets set for the 50 lap Sportsman race with a twist!

Midweek race report from Tony Modica & John Chance

Inverness, FL – This weekend’s 50 lap Sportsman race at Citrus County Speedway will have a new twist and will be a cone race!

For those of you familiar with the Madhouse TV show from last year you’ll know exactly what this is all about.Every restart has the opportunity to be a double file restart, it’s up to the drivers. One lap before each restart the track will put a cone in the center of the track at the flag stand, when each driver reaches that cone, they must pick the inside or outside lane. If the first three spots all pick the bottom, then the 4th place car could choose the outside of the cone and start outside the front row for the restart. If the top eight pick the bottom, 9th could pick the outside! The leader could even pick the top if he thought it was the faster way around! Once the driver picks the top or bottom, he must stay in that lane for the restart. You could have fifthteen cars lined up on the inside and only five on the outside!

Ernie Reed leads the Sportsman points standings with a feature and a heat this season.

The Open Wheel Modifieds are back in action with a great battle for the points lead, St Pete driver and current points leader  Bobby Ervien is coming into saturday nights action with a three point advantage over Richie Smith,Smith leads all Open Wheel Modified drivers with two feature wins.

Street Stocks will be at it again this saturday ,current points leader Curtis Flanagan has had a very solid start in 2011,coming home second last week.Curtis has a thirty eight point advantage over Bubba Martone.

The Taylor Made Homes Pure Stocks are coming off their 50 lap race last weekend with Levi Roberts scoring his second points win of the season,Roberts is currently fourth in the points standings.David Walls is your current points leader.

Sheldon Palmes Mini Stocks return, and are expected to continue with some great racing, the new points leader is Sonya Heater,Heater is just three points ahead of Kevin Stone.

Also, this saturday making their second stop of the season to Citrus County Speedway will be the South East Champ Kart Series.

Qualifying for the Sportsmans starts at 5:30 and racing starts at 6:00.
