SOUTHERN SUPER SERIES HEADS TO WORLD SERIES DURING SPEEDWEEKS FOR FIRST TIME

Southern Super Series press release:
SOUTHERN SUPER SERIES HEADS TO WORLD SERIES DURING SPEEDWEEKS FOR FIRST TIME
(Dec 19, 2022) The newly rebranded ASA Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco, will open its 11th season with a new event in 2023, joining the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida. The series will now sanction the Clyde Hart Memorial on Tuesday, February 14th.
After January’s SpeedFest in Cordele, Ga., a traditional non-points event with CRA: Champion Racing Association, the SSS will have their first of 12 points paying events. This will be the first time ever that the series has been part of the February World Series during Speedweeks extravaganza.
“It is our intention to align ourselves with only topnotch organizations, to protect the integrity of the World Series here at New Smyrna Speedway,” stated track owner Jane Hart. “We believe we are spot on with our Clyde Hart Memorial being the opening points event for the ASA Southern Super Series.”
In the most recent series’ visit, New Smyrna Speedway defending track champion Brad May outdueled the Southern Super Series regulars last July, winning the Bash at the Beach. May had his work cut out for him as former All American 400 winner, Matt Craig took second, Jett Noland was third, Jake Garcia fourth, and standout Super Late Model driver Bubba Pollard was fifth.
The Southern Super Series has formed a new alliance with Track Enterprises, in Macon, Illinois, to bring SSS, CRA, and the Midwest Tour under one umbrella. Not only will this make crossovers much easier on competitors, but it will also lead to some great excitement under the ASA STARS National Tour banner. The World Series at NSS will be a good indicator for what competitors can expect.
“There are so many exciting things happening in the short track pavement world for 2023.” Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent stated. “Our joining forces with Tim Bryant and the Southern Super Series, and especially with a race at New Smyrna during Speedweeks, only makes us feel stronger about the unified efforts we’ve all worked so hard on.”
Complete details for the Clyde Hart Memorial will be available in the coming days.

George Gorham Jr. Takes Super Late model Championship at Auburndale Speedway for 2022

On Saturday night in the twin 50 races at Auburndale Speedway George Gorham Jr secured the points championship for the super late models doing this in back to back season.  This was George’s 7th championship in 6 years, with championships coming from all over the state.   This one was probably one that was not as easy as some of the others but the team battelled a lot of challenges this year both on and off the track to secure the championship.

It is safe to say the wins did not come as easy or often as George would have wanted for the #10 Blackburns BBQ Super Late Model.  It was a year that brought lots of  emotions on and off the track as the race community and Family lost our loved M5, but we all know he was over looking the team as they secured the championship last Saturday night.  The Season also brought out a race in a tribute car to the M5 with the car warped in yellow.  The Gorham Jr. pits are always full of supporters, and family members.  It was also a special season as George got to help his sone George Gorham III make big strides in the pro truck division.

As 2023 gets ready to kick off the team looks to go for another championship or two.

CALLING ALL FRIENDS, FAMILY, RACERS, FOLLOWERS, & LOCALS!!!! Please, we need your support this Thursday Dec 15th, 2022 at the Manatee County Administrative Center (starts at 9am, could go all day) to respectfully OPPOSE the application of a 2700 acre land use change. Taylor ranch is trying to convert 2700 acres from agricultural to allowing 3 homes per acre!!! If this goes through it will allow 4500 homes to be built right next door to Bradenton’s historic 50 years running racetracks! This is NOT a compatible use of the adjacent property. We need as many supporters as we can, doesn’t matter where you’re from, ANYONE can speak… Myself and a few other people are prepared to speak on the behalf of the tracks, but if you support our racetracks all you need to do is step before the commissioners and say “I OPPOSE”. Please come if you’re available and be as respectful as you can. DEFEND BRADENTON’S RACETRACKS!!!!
