Hendersonville, N.C. (7/23/12) – After the action-packed Jeff’s Auto Sales 150 at Newport Tennessee two weeks ago, the UARA-STARS are coming back to the Carolinas for the Racing Electronics 150 at Caraway Speedway Saturday July 28th.   This will be round one of a UARA triple header.  Following the Caraway event this weekend, the STARS will follow that up with a race at Concord on August 4 and then turn right around for an event at Tri County on August 10th.

Caraway Speedway has not been on the UARA schedule since 2008 at which time Rookie Darrell Wallace Jr. won his only UARA event.  Wallace continued his season to win the UARA Rookie of the Year title.  The first visit to the 13 degree banking asphalt oval was in November 2007 in a controversial event full of excitement, hot tempers and the UARA championship on the line.  The championship was down to the wire between Ross Furr,  Mark Setzer and B.J. Mackey.  Furr came home as Champion and Mackey claimed the Caraway win.

Several rookie drivers like Ben Rhodes, Jake Morris, and Sean Rayhall are all looking to add their name to the list of first-time winners at Caraway. Tyler Laing, Devin Jones, and Brandon Jones also sit in the top-ten in the championship points, and are hoping for their first win as well.

Current point leader and local hero Travis Swaim is making his first UARA visit to his hometown track at Caraway. It will give the fans a good look at what great progress the four time track Champion is making with the series and show he still has the talent they know him for.  Swaim came close to his first UARA win during the last event at Newport Speedway on July 14th.  Swaim started on the pole, but lost the battle as Ronnie Bassett Jr. took the win for Team Dillon Motorsports while subbing for driver Tim George Jr.

Swaim had a decent lead and then a lapped car came into play on the final few circuits.   With a three wide finish at the line Bassett came home victor with Chad Finchum and Swaim flat footing it on either side up to his doors.  It was one tremendous effort by all three drivers that had the fans on their feet yelling their lungs out.  It was nothing short of amazing.

Bassett Jr. and his team have worked long hours to return to Caraway with his own race car for the July 28th event.  The team had a practice day on July 20th to shake the car down.  The 04 machine had been out of commission since being involved in an accident that has been deemed “The Big One” June 16th  at Newport Speedway.

Drivers making their way back to the UARA after some time off  will be Garrett Campbell, Taylor Stricklin, Sammy Jasper, David Garbo Jr. and the South Carolina Burns brothers Jeremy and Will.

Tickets for the event are just $20 for adults, $5 for students( ages 7-14), and kids 6 and under get in free.

For fans that are not able to make it to the .45 mile asphalt track in North Carolina, be sure to watch it LIVE at MotorSportsBroadcasting.com for no more than $15.
