47 LeeCARTERSVILLE, GA – Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing Special to a 40-point win on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA to remain the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader after Week 8 competition. Lee is the only driver to have raced in all eight weeks.

Lee has accumulated 377 points over the first eight weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition with three wins, eight top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 11 races. Having a week up on the rest of the competition, Lee has a 56-point lead over Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX.

Starnes picked up a 40-point win on Friday night at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, TX, who scheduled a last minute race for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 8 action. Starnes actually picked up more points with a 44-point seventh-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance Special.

Drivers earn 40 points to win with a car count of less than eight cars, and 50 points with a car count of eight or more. Starnes has moved up to the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 321 points after three wins, seven top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in ten races over seven weeks.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 316 points after four top five finishes and six top ten finishes in eight races over seven weeks. Sanchagrin finished 16th on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in the Permanent Exterior Solutions Special.

Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS did not see action in Week 8 competition, and dropped to fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 306 points. Lewis has three top five finishes and five top ten finishes in seven races over seven weeks driving the T. Lewis Construction Rocket.

Nick Gaines of Pearl River, LA finished sixth on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway to move up to the fifth spot in the standings with 292 points. Gaines has one top five finish and five top ten finishes in seven races over seven weeks driving the Great American Cookies of Slidell Special.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS drove the Big Nasty Motorsports Special to a third-place finish on Friday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS to move up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 283 points. In nine races over six weeks of competition, Jordan has seven top five finishes and eight top ten finishes.

Tootie Arnold of Meadville, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 8 competition and dropped to the seventh spot in the standings with 280 points. Arnold had two wins, four top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven races over six weeks driving the Miss-Lou Mobile Homes Movers Trak-Star.

The Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point leader 16-year-old Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 275 points after two wins, three top five finishes, and four top ten finishes in six races over seven weeks. Marsh drove the Modern Woodmen Trak-Star to a 14th-place finish on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.

Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 8 action and dropped to ninth in the standings with 271 points. Ladner has two top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in eight races over seven weeks driving the L&L Performance Trak-Star.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS moved into the Top 10 of the standings with 269 points after driving The Strength Center Special to his third win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway. Arnold has three wins and five top five finishes in eight races over seven weeks.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 8 action, Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS captured his third straight win on Friday night at Greenville Speedway driving the MP Trucking Special. Victor Turner Jr. of Munford, AL took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Advantage Plus Mobile Home Service Rocket.

Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL drove the Summit Resources Trak-Star to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Adam Ray of Smithland, KY drove the Three Rivers Machine Special to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 8 action on Saturday night at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX was rained out. Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS did not report their Friday night results.

Four-time Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge point standings after Shaw gave them their 12th win of the season. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is second in the standings after Turner gave them their sixth win of the season.

CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis points with three wins, and four-time Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is fourth with one win. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is still looking for their first win of the 2016 season.
