CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 25 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will see seven races at five tracks in four states.  With three weeks left in the season, Chase Washington of Houlka, MS and Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA are tied for the point lead, and five other drivers still have a mathematical chance to win the $10,000 Championship.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 25 competition begins on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO with a Double Feature event.  The first feature race will be the Week 24 make-up race and the second feature will award Week 25 points.  Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will also host a Friday night Week 25 event.

Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will present NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Double Feature events this Saturday night.  The first feature race will the make-up race and will award points for Week 7, and the second feature race will be the regularly scheduled Week 25 race.

East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL and 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN will also present Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 25 events.

Washington and Trosclair each have 796 points going into NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 25 competition.  Washington holds the tie-breaker advantage with 12 50-point wins to 11 50-point wins for Trosclair.  Washington will be trying to net on his lowest 14-week point total of 49, and Trosclair will be trying to net on a 48.

Washington is currently netting on three 49s, and a 50-point win in each of the remaining three weeks would give him a possible point total of 799.  Trosclair is the only driver out of the 442 drivers that have competed this season that can still post a perfect score of 800 points with a 50-point win in each of the final three weeks of the season.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 792 points.  King would have to win out in the remaining three weeks, including winning the double features scheduled for Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on September 22 to total 797 points.  King will be looking to net on a 48 this weekend.

Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL and Duke Palasini of Leland, MS are tied for the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 790 points apiece.  Shaw has the tie-breaker advantage with nine 50-point wins to eight for Palasini.  Both drivers would have to do some traveling to keep their championship hopes alive.

Shaw will be trying to net on a 47, a 48, and a 49 over the next three weeks.  Shaw would have to win both features on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, as well as the make-up race at WMP on September 29 to bring his season total  to 798 points.  Shaw could also net on 49s by competing in Double Features at Malden Speedway and Talladega Short Track for a possible 799 points.

Palasini will be trying to net on 48s over the next three weeks, and would have to win the Double Features at TST to bring his best 14-week season point total to 798.  Palasini could also net on a 49 if he wins the make-up feature at Malden Speedway and bring his point total to 799 at the end of the season.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 788 points.  Lee will be trying to net on three 48s with 50-point win over the next three weeks, plus win both make-up features at Whynot Motorsports Park this Saturday night and on September 29.  With 50-point wins at those events would bring his point total to 797.  A win in the Malden Speedway make-up race would net on a 49 and bring his season total to 798.

Although he is currently 48th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 615 points, two-time West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS still has a mathematical chance to win the championship.  McDuffie still has three weeks left to earn full points and can still earn another 25 Bonus Points.

McDuffie would have to win the make-up races on Friday night at Malden Speedway and Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, plus one of the Week 25 races at either track to earn 150 points and bring his total to 765 points.  Then on Week 26 he would have to win both races at Talladega Short Track to net on a 47 and a 48 to bring his total to 770 points.

In the final week of the season, McDuffie would have to win both feature races at Whynot Motorsports Park to net on a 48 and a 49 to bring his best 14-week total to 773 points.  He would also earn 25 Bonus Points for his fourth consecutive week of competition, as the make-up race at Malden Speedway is for Week 24.  That would bring his season point total to 798 points.

The seventh through tenth spots in the point fund-paying NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Top 10 are up for grabs, and will be contested by at least 16 different drivers over the next three weeks.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is currently seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 784 points and will be trying to net on a 47.  Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS is eighth with 775 points and will be trying to net on a 46.  Robby Moore of Brosley, MO and Bret Holmes of Munford, AL are tied for the tenth spot each with 768 points.  Moore will be trying to net on a 41 and Holmes will be trying to net on a 45.

Based on the current NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series schedule of events for the final three weeks of the 2012 season, which is updated daily on an as needed basis, 12 drivers currently outside the Top 10 still have a mathematical chance to move into that category by the end of the season.

Those drivers are Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO, Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN, Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS, Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS, Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS, Daniel Bridgemon of Meridian, MS, Hunter Carroll of Columbus, MS, Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS, Roger Witt of Batesville, AR, Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL, Thomas Lewis of Hamilton, GA, and Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that counts their best 14 week point totals, plus up to 100 bonus points, over the 27-week season.  They are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the end of the season.  The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a $10,000 top prize.

When a driver reaches the 14-week point in their season, they begin netting points by attempting to replace the lowest weekly point total in their 14-week total with a higher one.  The points system for fields of eight or more cars is 50 points to win and one point less per position back to tenth.  Drivers that finish tenth on back receive 41 points.

The points system for fields with less than eight cars pays 40 points to win, and one point less per position back through the seventh spot.  Drivers that attempt to compete, but don’t start the main event receive 25 points.  Drivers can compete in as many events as they can each week, but only their highest event point total counts for that week.
