CARTERSVILLE, GA – There is a new point leader after Week 22 of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.  Chase Washington of Houlka, MS was able to net two points after his 11th win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special.

Washington now has 795 points and holds a one-point lead over Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA in the battle for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Championship.  Trosclair did not net any points in Week 22 competition, and has 794 points in the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Paint Special.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN took his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger.  King was able to net two points, bring his best 14-week point total up to 790 points, and move into a tie for the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL.

Shaw was unable to net any points in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points during Week 22 action driving the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.  Technically, with the tie-breaker coming into play, Shaw holds the third spot with eight wins to King’s six victories.

Duke Palasini of Leland, MS did not compete in Week 22 competition in the Palasini Farms Special, but is in the fifth spot with 789 points and is still in contention for the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series title.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to his fifth win of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season in the Week 17 make-up race on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.  Lee was able to net two points to bring his 14-week point total to 786 and remain in title contention.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS finished second in the Week 22 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series race on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT.

Arnold was able to net eight points and bring his best 14-week point total to 781.  That moved Arnold up to the seventh in the points chase.  Arnold also picked up a 40-point win on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS

Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action, but he remains eighth in the standings with 775 points in the Custom Spraying GRT.  Bret Holmes of Munford, AL finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL in the Holmes II Excavating Special to net five points and remain in the ninth spot with 767 points.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO and Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO both made big moves in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after Week 22 competition.  Moore raced at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN on Saturday night and earned 25 Bonus Points for his fourth straight week of series competition.

Although Moore finished outside the top ten in the Clayhill Motorsports main event, he was able to net two points on a 39 and bring his best 14-week total up to 760 points and move from 15th to the tenth and final points fund-paying spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings driving the D&K Truck Repair Special.

Berry, who was 20th in points chase coming into Week 22 action, used his final week to earn full points by driving the Berry Roofing Special to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports.  That brought Berry’s 14-week total to 758 points and the 11th spot, just two points outside the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.

Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN is also a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Top 10 contender.  Hedgecock drove the Eagle Racing Engines Rocket to a second-place finish on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway to net eight points and bring his best 14-week total to 756 points.  Hedgecock is currently 12th in the points chase.

Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS in the Robinson Electric GRT and Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS in the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 22 competition, but remain Top 10 contenders, as they are tied for the 13th spot with 753 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 22 action, Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL took the $1,200 top prize after driving The Racing Zone Rocket to his third win of the season in the Jerry Goodwin Challenge To Beat Cancer Race on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL drove the High Roller Race Cars Special to his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season and took the $1,000 top prize on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS in the I-20 Challenge Series Race.

Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN picked up his second win of the season on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports driving the TS Race Shop GRT, and Dana Eiland of Salem, AL took his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Andy’s Auto Parts Special.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 22 Saturday night events at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO were rained out.

Arnold and Newman gave defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR their 27th and 28th wins of the 2012 season.

GRT Race Cars holds a two-point lead over two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL.  Lee gave Trak-Star Race Cars their 26th win of the 2012 season.

Dudley gave third-place Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV their 11th win of the season.  Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN is fourth in the point standings with seven victories on the season after King’s win.  Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth with four wins and TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
