CARTERSVILLE, GA – Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will begin its fifth season with the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series on April 5. Jackson Motor Speedway will also be involved with the new NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division in 2013 that will also kick off at the 3/8-mile clay oval on April 5.

Jackson Motor Speedway will also be working with Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS offering the I-20 Challenge for both the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division with extra cash up for grabs in a special series of races.

The I-20 Challenge for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models will be National points events at each track that pay $1,000-to-win. There will also be a separate point fund for drivers competing in the Jackson Motor Speedway/Whynot Motorsports Park I-20 Challenge for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models.

The Sauls Farms 1-20 Challenge for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division begins on April 5 at Jackson Motor Speedway with a $600-to-win race, with the second race at Whynot Motorsports Park on April 6 paying $800-to-win. Sauls Farms will pay a $300 Bonus to the driver with the best average finish in the two races. That’s a possible $1,700-to-win over two nights.

Jackson Motor Speedway drivers in both the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division will compete against drivers at other sanctioned tracks across the country in their respective Divisions using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series National Champion will earn $10,000, and the point fund will pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings. The 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Champion will earn $2,000 and the point fund will also reward the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings. Drivers in both Divisions will also compete for the Jackson Motor Speedway Track Point Fund.

Top competitors in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division at Jackson Motor Speedway have a history of placing in the Top 10 of the National point standings. The defending JMS NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Champion Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS finished sixth in the 2012 National points chase.

Other top Jackson Motor Speedway NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model competitors include the seventh-place driver in the National point standings Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS, Neil Lee of Florence, MS, Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS, Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS, Cliff Williams of Star. MS, and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS.

The 2013 season will be the inaugural season for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division at Jackson Motor Speedway. Top drivers expected to compete are defending track champion Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS, Donnie Monk of Florence, MS, Brooks Strength of Byrum, MS, Landon Frith of Terry, MS, and Jeff Butler of Jackson, MS

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.

There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break. The Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine is also used in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division.
