CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division race scheduled for this weekend at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS has been adjusted to be the one-day $2,500-to-win 7th Annual Coca-Cola 50 this Saturday night.  The $2,000-to-win Black Ice 40 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS remains on the schedule for Sunday night.

The Whynot Motorsports Park race was changed from a two-day $5,000-to-win 75-lap race to a one-day $2,500-to-win race on Saturday night due to forecasted heavy rain from Hurricane Isaac that made landfall on Tuesday night near New Orleans.  The storm system is forecasted to leave the area by Thursday.

This should give Whynot Motorsports Park Owner and Promoter Rodney Wing enough time to get the 3/8-mile clay oval in race-ready condition.  Both track and series officials agree it is in everyone’s best interest to run the annual event this weekend due to a crowded racing schedule in the area through the middle of October.

“This has always been one of the premier events on the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series schedule every year, and we want to try to do everything we can to get this race in this weekend,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said.  “The inclement weather in Mississippi over the past few weeks has caused a lot of big races to be rescheduled, and it is in everyone’s best interest to run our two series races this weekend.”

In addition to the $2,500-to-win 7th Annual Coca-Cola 50 this Saturday night for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division at Whynot Motorsports Park, the track has announced there will also be a $1,000-to-win I-20 Challenge Series Modified Race this Saturday night, plus heat and feature races for the WMP Street Stocks and Pure Stocks.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series $2,500-to-win 7th Annual Coca-Cola 50 this Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park will be Round 19 of the 2012 season.  The series will compete in Qualifying, B-Main Races and the 50-lap Feature Race this Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.
