20130429-191112.jpgWAYCROSS, GA (May 6, 2013) – The Spring Shootout will be bigger and better than ever this Friday and Saturday, May 10th and 11th at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, IL. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series looks to double the excitement for fans this weekend. Both nights will include a complete show, packed with RED BUCK Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and $10,000 to win, $800 to start feature events. Over $80,000 in prize money will be up for grabs this weekend at LaSalle Speedway.

“This will be one of the biggest weekends in the history of LaSalle Speedway,” said Tony Izzo, Jr., whose family promotes the 1/3 mile oval track located in North-Central Illinois. “We have our biggest crowds when the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series comes here. With the quality of drivers they have, and the show they put on, I am sure the place will be packed again,” stated Tony Izzo Jr. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be visiting LaSalle Speedway for the tenth time since the series inception in 2005. With a roster full of dirt late model racing’s biggest names, the series is in the midst of a terrific points battle with positions 1-10 separated by only 220 points. In fact, six of the top ten in points have already reached Lucas Oil Victory Lane in 2013 with former LaSalle track champion Dennis Erb, Jr. of Carpentersville, IL, and 2-time series champion, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN leading the way with three wins, each.

“I believe our new tire rule has been key in the competition we have seen this year,” said Series Director, Ritchie Lewis. The LOLMDS instituted a new tire rule back in March at Brownstown (IN) Speedway and since then no driver has won a race starting from the front row. “We have had six different winners in the first ten races, and we have a tie for the points lead. The Izzo family has promoted every LOLMDS event we have had at LaSalle Speedway and we always look forward to coming back there,” said Lewis.

With the cancellation last month of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Hartford (MI), the Izzo Family decided to expand the Spring Shootout, an annual event at the track. “We have wanted to make the Spring Shootout into a must-see event for a while, said Izzo. “We hope Mother Nature cooperates with us and the fans will get to see one of the best weekends of racing in Illinois this year.”
