eba748_5e165a902e6944f498790027c46b27ac-mv2_d_3321_3000_s_4_2Salem, IN (June 8, 2016) – Officials from Berlin Raceway, in conjunction with Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS officials, have announced a great new addition to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance portion of the Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics Weekend. The JEGS Challenge 30 will give an opportunity for the 10 plus racers who don’t qualify for the Berlin 100 Presented by Great Clips and JEGS.com on Saturday, to race in a 30 lap feature and earn some extra money, with the event paying $1000 to win and $200 to start.

“We have a great car count for this Saturday’s Berlin 100 and we just didn’t want to send a bunch of cars home without the opportunity to race in a feature event,” remarked Mike Bursley with Berlin Raceway. “We appreciate all the series and local teams that want to race in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour portion of the Battle at Berlin 251 Weekend, this will give them the opportunity to race in a feature event for some additional prize money.” 

To date there are 37 teams entered for Saturday’s Berlin 100 Presented by Great Clips, which because of weather, will be the second point’s event of the season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. The series season opener at Springport Motor Speedway was canceled because of weather on May 1st. John Hunter Nemechek came away with the victory in the series season opening Master of the Pro’s 144 event at Lebanon I-44 Speedway on May 14th. The series event at Columbus Motor Speedway on May 28th was rescheduled after the starting field had been set because of persistent rain, that event will now be completed on August 20th.

2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Cody Coughlin comes into Saturday’s event as the series point leader by just two points over Trevor Berry. 2013 and 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Travis Braden is third in points, followed by Brandon Oakley in fourth and Rookie Jack Dossey in fifth place. The top five in points are all entered for this Saturday’s Berlin 100.

Other top series drivers entered include Quinnton Bear, Andy and Phil Bozell, Dakota Stroup, Austin Kunert, Jack Smith, Jerry Andrews, Tristan Van Wieringen, Bill Burba, Kyle Hayden, Dean Gassert, and Kyle Crump. A great group of series Van Doorn Racing Development Rookie of the Year drivers are also entered besides Dossey, they include Travis Eddy, Michael Clancy Jr., Hope Hornish, Kevin Zielezinski, Joshua James, Adam Johnson, Jared Thomas and Clarity Newhouse.

Three of the top late model drivers in the country are also entered for the event including former event winner Bubba Pollard from Georgia, multi time CRA winner Steve Dorer from Florida and Zane Smith from California. There are several local drivers entered including Chris Koslek, Ben Welch, Lauren Bush, Jordan Dahlke, Nate Walton, Ken Womba, Tim Greene, Dave Simpson and Carson Hocevar.

The Battle at Berlin 251Weekend will start off with an open practice on Friday, June 10th, pits open at 12noon, open practice will go from 4 to 8pm.  Pits will open on Saturday, June 11th at 11am, practice will begin at 2pm, qualifying for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance at 5pm. Racing action will begin at 6:30pm Saturday and will include the, JEGS Challenge 30 and the Berlin 100 Presented by Great Clips and JEGS.com $5000 to win event for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Also racing on Saturday will be the Broaster Chicken ICAR Modified Tour and the Berlin Raceway Super Stocks, plus the Battle at Berlin 251 Challenge 15 minute practice session.

Pits will open on Sunday, June 12th at 12noon, required tech will begin at 1pm with open practice going from 3pm and go to 5pm for the Battle at Berlin 251 cars. Pits open on Monday, June 13th at 11am, with practice beginning at 1:30pm. Qualifying for the Battle at Berlin 251 will begin at 4:30pm. There will be an on track autograph session with all the drivers beginning at 5:30 pm. The race program will begin at 6:30pm with the Battle at Berlin 251 Last Chance race, after that the pre-race festivities will begin for the Battle at Berlin 251, the Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics will go green shortly after driver intros.
