After a rain out last week Auburndale Speedway will return to action Saturday evening with a pair of 50-lap races for the Sunshine State Challenge Series (SSCS) Sportsman cars and the Pro Trucks. The “June Jam Twin-50s” are being presented by WPCV 97 Country radio. Also on the card will be the Mod Minis, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Mini Stocks and Scramblers. The Speedway Concession Stand will be featuring a special fried bologna sandwich for just $4 while supplies last.

The Sportsman cars will be led again by SSCS Sportsman point leader Aaron Williamson who has a big lead in the standings over second place Cody Allen while Jason Rendell is third in the standings just ahead of Donnie Ollie, Jr. and Devin McLeod. Travis Roland was the surprise winner here last month after his car owner Dave Colpritt decided at the last moment to enter his car. It remains to be seen if the pair will try and make it two in a row this week. Other possible entries include Brandon Martin, Jacob Berkevich, Rick Reed, Bobby Mobley, A. J. Olender, Steven O’Steen, Adam Briggs, Craig Cuzzone, Chris Lewellen and the recently un-retired Howard O’Steen.

Tommy Kelly continues to have a big season in the SSCS Pro Trucks and now has a ten point edge in the standings on Cody McDuffie as it looks like this will probably be the battle for championship as the pair has a considerable advantage over Cody Martell, Becca Monopoli and Jason Lester who are third through fifth in the standings. Monopoli was the most recent winner here back on May 20th. Other expected entries include Kristen Clements, Dakota Hunt, Danny Anderson, Adam Briggs, Donnie Burkhalter, Nick Haag, Tyler Davis, Billy Carlbert, Jr., Cody Carlbert, William Kerns and James Armas.

Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm with practice for Sportsman and Pro Trucks from 3:30-4:30 pm followed by practice for all of the other divisions competing. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm with qualifying for the SSCS Sportsman and Pro Trucks at 6 pm.

Racing begins at 7 pm with 8-lap heat races for the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mod Minis. Feature racing follows with the 50-lap contest for the SSCS Sportsman cars followed by a 20 lapper for the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Mini Stocks. After intermission it’s the 50-lap run for the SSCS Pro Trucks then 20 laps for the Scramblers. The night concludes with a 25-lap race for the Mod Minis.

Adult admission for the evening of action is just $15 with seniors 55+ $13.
Children ages 5-12 are only $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free.

After last weeks rain out, The Results Companies night has been re-scheduled for June 24th and will feature double points for all classes racing including Street Stocks, Legend Cars, Mod Minis, Mini Stocks, Scramblers, Mini Cups and Figure Eights.

Auburndale Speedway has announced that Fellows Trucking will be sponsoring the Fellows Trucking Kids Club at the track. Thanks go out to Donna Fellows-Coffey and the Fellows family for their support of this great idea.
Kids can start signing up this Saturday in the speedway office for the club.
This is not a racing club, but instead a club where the kids will meet the drivers and learn about racing along with loads of fun and games. Kids must be between the ages 5-12 to join up. Scheduled club dates are September 23rd, and 30th along with October 14th & 28th. The meeting on October 28th will have a bounce house and also be trick or treating night. During the 2018 race season, the club will meet twice a month during the racing months.
