Hialeah Speedway may have closed in 2005 but the memories are still alive today. On April 25th, 2020 the Hialeah Speedway Reunion marks its 15th anniversary of its demise. That doesn’t stop the memories that were made over the 51 years the 1/3 mile flat oval operated.
In 2010 Ronnie Bacelo took the reigns and hosted the first Hialeah Speedway Reunion and Hall of Fame inductions. Since then there has been five reunions and the attendance has ranged anywhere from 350 to 650. “We refuse to let it die, there are just too many memories and stories to be told” said Bacelo.
In 2015 Bacelo picked up a partner for these events in now track historian Bruce Griffin. Griffin has devoted countless hours to gather hard facts and statistics. “We are about 90% spot on with our numbers” said Griffin. It’s only going to get better from here.
On the night of April 25th at Hialeah Park and Casino located at 2200 East 4th Ave. Hialeah, Florida.
