Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Early Entries Begin to Arrive

Magnolia Motor Speedway Hosts Mega Event on September 20-22

Columbus, Mississippi (09/05/18) – The 2018 edition of the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway is just over two weeks away and Super Late Model pre-entries are beginning to roll in for the big event.

Former event winners headline some of the early entries, which now includes drivers from eight states.

Defending Champion, Brandon Overton from Evans, Georgia – who is fresh off a $50,000 win in the Hillbilly 100 – headlines the list which also includes former event winners Chris Wall and Morgan Bagley.

Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, Dale McDowell from Chickamauga, Georgia has filed his entry.

Other early entries include former MARS and Lucas Oil MLRA Champion Tony Jackson Jr. from Lebanon, Missouri as well three-time and defending COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Champion, Jack Sullivan. Defending Ultimate Super Late Model Series Champion, Tyler Millwood from Kingston, Georgia has filed his entry as well.

Other early entries include Vic Hill, Billy Moyer Jr., Donald McIntosh, Zachary McMillan, Timothy Culp, Cade Dillard, Spencer Hughes, Jon Mitchell, B.J. Robinson, Dane Dacus, and more.

The 2018 Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 will be held on Thursday-Saturday, September 20-22. After seeing an Open Practice Session held on Thursday, September 20 there will be a $4,000-to-win/$300-to-start, 30-lap finale on Friday night, September 21 for the Super Late Models, while Saturday night, September 22 will see the division competing in a $12,000-to-win/ $700-to-start, 70-lap finale.

For the first time ever, each night will see a full docket of time trials, heat races, B-Mains, and a main event for the Super Late Model ranks.
The early entry fee for the weekend is only $100. Super Late Model competitors have until Saturday, September 15 to file an early entry for the event. After this date, the entry fee will be $150. Competitors must file an early entry by mailing a check to Magnolia Motor Speedway, 495 Highway 45 South, Columbus, MS 39701 or competitors can give Johnny Stokes (662-574-2572), Ben Shelton (901-335-3037) or any of the Magnolia Motor Speedway staff early entries.

Joining the Super Late Models on the weekend’s docket are big events for the Durrence Layne Late Models, Durrence Layne Sportsman, the Mississippi Street Stock Series (MSSS), and Factory Stocks/Pure Stocks.

The Durrence Layne Late Models will be competing for a $3,000 top prize. MSSS Street Stocks will be competing for $2,000-to-win. Factory Stocks/Pure Stocks will be competing for $1,000-to-win, and Late Model Sportsman will race for $1,200-to-win.

The Factory Stock Vs. Pure Stock Challenge will be headlined by a $1,000-to-Win/$100-to-start with a $25 Entry Fee. Drivers can run whatever rules package their home track runs with the exception that all competitors must run an unmodified 4412 carburetor. No mud grip tires are allowed. Open practice begins Thursday, September 20th at 7:00 p.m. for all divisions.

Friday night will see preliminary action for the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 as Super Late Models compete in a complete program that culminates with a $4,000-to-win/ $300-to-start feature. NeSmith Late Models, MSSS Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and Late Model Sportsman will run their heat races.

B-Mains for all divisions will be contested on Saturday night along with a complete $12,000-to-win/ $700-to-start program for the Super Late Models. Last but not least, the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Championships feature events will be held for all divisions.

FASTRAK $2,500 to win Dirt Wars at 311 Motor Speedway September 8th

The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance will hit the high banks of 311 Motor Speedway this Saturday night for $2,500 to win as part of Dirt Wars. The Stars and Cars of FASTRAK will battle it out on the ½-mile Pine Hall, NC speedplant for their share of over $10,000 in purse money. The race is the final tune up before the FASTRAK World Championship weekend, with a weekend purse totaling over $75,000.

Dirt Wars at 311 Motor Speedway will continue Big Money September for the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance, which features $140,000 in purse money up for grabs through the month. Over Labor Day Weekend, the series concluded the 4th Annual FASTRAK East Coast Rumble, with Carson Ferguson claiming the Championship Belt. Matthew Nance also claimed the 14th Annual FASTRAK Triple Crown title at Beckley Motorsports Park on Friday, August 31st.

Nance is the current series point leader, followed by Brett Hamm. Corey Almond is in third. Brad Basey and Matt Long round out the top five.

The gates will open at 3pm with the drivers meeting scheduled for 6:30pm. Hot laps are slated for 7pm, and racing will begin at 8pm. Grandstand admission is $20 and pit admission is $35. 311 Motor Speedway is located at 4390 US Hwy 311N Pine Hall, NC.

At the undisputed heavyweight champion of dirt modified shows, race fans will witness a complete program all three nights, with $5,000 going to the Modified winner on the first two nights while Saturday’s winner will pocket $10,000. Thirty cars will start the main event each night. Thursday’s Non-Qualifiers Race will pay $700 to win and a minimum of $100 for each of the 24 starters. Saturday’s Mon-Qualifiers Race will pay $2,000 to win and a minimum $250 for each of the 30 starters. Saturday’s championship main event will start three-wide.

Thursday is the final points race in the USMTS Hunt for the Casey’s Cup powered by Summit. On Friday and Saturday, the Modifieds will be co-sanctioned by the USMTS and USRA with drivers earning Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points.

There will be a complete show each night. The top 15 in heat race passing points are locked into “A” Main each night with the top 8 redrawing for the first eight starting positions. An additional 15 drivers will advance from the “B” Mains.

B-Mods will battle for $750 to win and $75 to start on Thursday, $1,000 to win and $100 to start on Friday, and $1,200 to win and $150 to start on Saturday. Points will be awarded in the Iron Man Challenge for Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points all three nights.

An additional 15 will advance from the “B” Mains to the 30-car “A” Main each night. Saturday’s “A” Main will start three-wide. The top 24 in Thursday’s “B” Mains not advancing to “A” Main are eligible to compete in Thursday’s Non-Qualifiers Race. The top 30 in Saturday’s “B” Mains not advancing to “A” Main are eligible to compete in Saturday’s Non-Qualifiers Race. Both Non-Qualifiers races will be a complete redraw for starting spot. USMTS points, provisionals and Top Dog Bonus will be awarded Thursday only.

B-Mods – Three-day entry in advance is $100 for licensed or $125 for non-licensed drivers; Three-day entry is $150 for all drivers at the gate; Thursday only is $40 for licensed or $60 for non-licensed; Friday only is $60 for licensed or $75 for non-licensed; Saturday only is $75 for licensed or $100 for non-licensed.

WHAT’S GOING ON

Bean Bag Tournament – Bragging rights for this year’s Jamboree Bean Bag Tournament begins with sign-in at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday near the campground area. The battle begins at high noon.

Breakfast – The Bear Creek Lutheran Church will once again be serving breakfast in beer garden on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 8-11 a.m. An all-you-can-eat plate is just $9.

Golf Tournament – The annual Club Car Jamboree Open golf scramble for racers, crew members, event officials and fans will tee off at 10 a.m. at the Willow Creek Golf Course, located about two miles from the Rochester Airport. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. The top three teams will score cash prizes and many other awesome prizes will also be awarded throughout the day.

The Dweebs – Back by popular demand for the seventh straight year, The Dweebs will be rocking the Deer Creek Speedway on Friday night immediately following the races. Family-owned and operated since 1987, America’s Favorite Party Band will be playing free for all race attendees and all ages, plus fans can partake in the annual Halloween Costume Contest during the live concert.

Wednesday – An open practice is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 19. The pit gate opens at 12 p.m. with a drivers meeting at 5:30 at the USMTS trailer followed by practice from 6-9 p.m. Admission to the grandstands is free.

Thursday – Tickets are $25 or $10 for kids ages 12 and under. A three-day reserved ticket is $80 or $30 for kids. The pit gate opens at 3 p.m., driver sign-in at the USMTS trailer begins at 4 p.m., grandstand gates open at 5 p.m., the drivers meeting will be held under the hospitality tent in the pit area at 6 p.m., opening ceremonies begin at 6:45 and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. There will be a DJ and karaoke in the hospitality area behind the grandstands after the races.

Friday – Tickets are $25 or $10 for kids ages 12 and under. The pit gate opens at 3 p.m., driver sign-in at the USMTS trailer begins at 4 p.m., grandstand gates open at 5 p.m., the drivers meeting will be held under the hospitality tent in the pit area at 6 p.m., opening ceremonies begin at 6:45 and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. The Dweebs will perform live in hospitality area behind the grandstands following the races with a Halloween Costume Contest during the live concert.

Saturday – Tickets are $30 or $10 for kids ages 12 and under. The pit gate opens at 2 p.m., driver sign-in at the USMTS trailer begins at 3 p.m., grandstand gates open at 4 p.m., the drivers meeting will be held under the hospitality tent in the pit area at 5 p.m., opening ceremonies begin at 5:45 and racing gets underway at 6 p.m.

For fans unable to attend in person, all three nights of the 20th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree will be broadcast live at www.racindirt.com.

Track prep will be done as needed and order may change depending on weather, car count, etc. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday so pits will need to be cleared by that time each day. Remember, drivers, you are responsible for your crew and family members, so let’s have fun and keep it clean. We want everybody to have a good time. Fires must be in gravel or fire pit-do not burn in grass. Oil dump is located behind the pit concession.
