Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Invades South Dakota

BATAVIA, OH (July 13, 2017) – For the first time since the inception of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2005, the nation’s premier dirt late model sanction will invade South Dakota. Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, SD will host the Bullet SportsWear Shootout, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

The event is co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Midwest Latemodel Racing Association (MLRA). A talented group of local and regional standouts are expected to battle the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at the 1/3-mile oval.

The Bullet SportsWear Shootout will feature a complete program of: Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, and B-Mains, highlighted by a 50-lap, $10,000-to-win main event for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The Street Stocks and Super Stocks will also be in competition on Tuesday, July 18th.

Beach Bash at Berlin Raceway up Next for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour

Salem, IN. (July 12, 2017) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will return to action this Saturday at Berlin Raceway located in Marne, MI. The series has competed at Berlin Raceway every year since its inaugural 2011 season, when local racer Terry VanHaitsma went to victory lane. Other series winners at Berlin include Mike Bursley in 2012, Travis Braden in 2013, Bubba Pollard in 2014 and 2016 and Brian Campbell in 2015.

Saturday’s Beach Bash 100 will be the fifth race of the season for the crate late model series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association. Cole Williams won the series season opener on May 21st at Bristol Motor Speedway and the “Masters of the Pro’s” 144 at Lebanon I-44 Speedway on July 3rd. Jack Smith won the series second event of the season on June 17th at Salem Speedway. Rookie Carson Hocevar won this past Sunday’s event at Kil-Kare Raceway, becoming the youngest winner ever with the series.

With their wins Hocevar, Williams and Smith are the first drivers to be locked into the new Chase Championship format if they compete in at least 75% of the races leading up to the final four Chase events.

Jack Dossey III comes into Saturday’s event as the series point’s leader. The 2016 VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie of the Year holds a 15 point lead over second place Hocevar, who is the current Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Award Presented by VanDoorn Racing Development point’s leader. Both Dossey III and Hocevar are entered for Saturday’s event. Hocevar is a two time winner in 2017 with the Berlin Super Late Model Series and is their current point’s leader.

Austin Kunert is third in series points, he is 11 points behind Hocevar. Michael Clancy Jr. is fourth in points, he is 28 points behind Kunert. Smith is fifth in series points, he is 58 points behind Clancy Jr. Kunert, Clancy Jr. and Smith are all entered for Saturday’s race.

Former event winners and Berlin veterans Van Haitsma and Campbell are also entered. VanHaitsma was the 2016 Berlin Super Late Model Champion. Campbell is now tied for second in ARCA/CRA Super Series all-time wins after winning the series Toledo Speedway event in April. Three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn is also entered seeking his first ever JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour win. The former full-time Berlin competitor has two ARCA/CRA Super Series victories so far this season, at Anderson Speedway on May 7th and at Baer Field Motorsports Park on June 10th.

Other top CRA drivers entered for the Beach Bash 100 include Thomas Woodin, Trever McCoy, VanDoorn Racing Development rookies Hope Hornish, Thomas Hufferd, and Mandy Chick. Former series winner Eric Lee and Kyle Hayden are both entered to make their 2017 series debuts.

Several local competitors who compete with the Berlin Super Late Models and part-time with CRA are also entered including three time Berlin Super Late Model 2017 winner Chris Koslek, Nate Walton, who finished third in this event last year, Ben Welch, Jordan Dahlke, Ken Wobma, Lauren Bush-Sokoloski and 14 year olds Evan Shotko and Hayden Spargue, who are entered to make their CRA debuts Saturday.

There is an open practice scheduled for Friday, pit gates open at 3pm, practice will run from 4pm until 8pm. Pit gates open on Saturday at 12noon, with a one hour practice session for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour starting at 3pm. Fury Race Cars qualifying for the Beach Bash 100 will start at 5pm. There will be an on track autograph session with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour drivers at 5:30pm. The race program will begin at 6:30 pm, also racing that night will be the Berlin Raceway Modifieds, Sportsman and 4 Cylinders

THE FASTEST MAN TO CIRCLE BROWNSTOWN HEADED TO ULTIMATE BoB RACE

CARNESVILLE, GA – There have been thousands of drivers, that include dirt late model legends and Hall of Fame Inductees, that have turned in a recorded time at Historic Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN. Only one driver can be the fastest of them all, and Cody Mahoney of Hanover, IN became that driver in an ULTIMATE Super Late Model Battle of the Bluegrass event.

The fastest man at Brownstown Speedway has joined the entry list for Saturday night’s $3,000-to-win, $400-to-start ULTIMATE Battle of the Bluegrass race. On October 1, 2016, Mahoney toured the Brownstown Speedway ¼-mile dirt oval in 12.728 seconds to set an all-time track record for full body race cars.

The complete payout for the ULTIMATE BoB RACE on Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway is as follows: 1. $3,000; 2. $1,500; 3. $1,000; 4. $800; 5. $700; 6. $600; 7. $550; 8. $525; 9. $500; 10. $475; 11. $450; 12. $425; 13. $410; 14. $400; 15. $400; 16. $400; 17. $400; 18. $400; 19. $400; 20. $400; 21. $400; 22. $400; 23. $400; 24. $400.

Along with Mahoney, the defending ULTIMATE BoB Champion and current point leader Jeremy Hines of Seymour, IN will be racing at his home track in his quest for a second straight ULTIMATE BoB Championship.

Other drivers that have made their intentions to be at this Saturday night’s ULTIMATE BoB race include the defending Brownstown Speedway Late Model Champion Joe Godsey of Edinburgh, IN, Jered Bailey of Bedford, IN, Adam Bowman of Seymour, IN, Jeff Roth of Bentonville, AR, John Baker Jr. of French Lick, IN, Devin Gilpin of Columbus, IN, and Glen Thompson of Buckingham, IL.

Hines leads the ULTIMATE BoB standings with 54 points. Tanner English of Benton, KY is second with 35 points, and Bailey is third with 34 points. Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, IN is fourth with 33 points, and Bowman is fifth with 32 points. Chad Singleton of Edinburgh, IN is sixth with 31 points, and Britan Godsey of Mitchell, IN is seventh with 29 points.

Matt Bex of Avoca, IN is eighth in the ULTIMATE BoB standings with 28 points, and John Whitney of Clarksville, OH is ninth with 27 points. Baker rounds out the top ten in the ULTIMATE BoB standings with 26 points.

On Saturday at Brownstown Speedway, the gates open at 3 p.m. with ULTIMATE BoB Driver Registration from 3 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with Hot Laps at 6 p.m.
