Mesa Park Chessers 6, Everyone Else 0

Fellsmere, FL - The Chessers raised their personal domination of Swamp Buggy
racing to a new level this weekend at Mesa Park in Fellsmere, FL.  Lonnie
Chesser swept the Best of Show on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, son Eddie "The Outlaw" racked up enough points to capture the
Friday night Budweiser points championship and overall North American Swamp
Racing Association (NASRA) season points championship.

During the course of the 1999 season, the Chessers won all six events.
Eddie won three races, Lonnie won twice, and Lonnie's brother Leonard
captured the other event.  Only Tony Hamm broke up the clean sweep by
winning the Sunday Coca Cola points championship.

On Friday night, Lonnie Chesser won the Pro Modified class in his new buggy
'Hi Tech Redneck'.  In the Best of Show race, he defeated V8 Stock class
winner Phil Macias in 'Re-Psycho.'  Ray Thornton won Junior Show honors in
"Cold Duck' after winning the four cylinder class.  Thomas Blanton captured
the always exciting Jeep class feature in 'Catfish II'.  Eddie Chesser won
the 4WD Modified class in "The Outlaw," earning enough points for the Friday
Night Budweiser Points championship.

Sunday afternoon was almost a carbon copy of Sunday night.  Lonnie Chesser
again won the Pro Modified feature before rolling over V8 Stock class winner
Phil Macias in the Best of Show.  'Cold Duck' was the winning buggy in the
Junior Show event, but this time it was driven by Tony Hamm.  Ray Thornton
allowed Hamm to borrow his ride so that Tony would have a shot at the Sunday
points title.  Eddie Chesser broke in his race, there by giving Hamm the
Coca Cola Championship.  Blanton also doubled up on the weekend winning the
Jeep Class finals.

Despite his troubles Sunday, Eddie Chesser captured enough over the weekend
to walk away as the 1999 NASRA Swamp Champion.

Swamp Buggy racing has concluded for 1999 at Mesa Park.  The buggies head
over to Florida Sports Park in Naples, FL for the Budweiser Fall Classic on
Sunday, October 31.

The next event at Mesa Park is on Sunday October 17 when NASRA teams up with
DENT Productions to host the Southern Regional Demolition Derby.  Over 120
cars will attempt to smash their way to victory, as well as to the national
championships of Demolition Derbies next year in Indianapolis, IN.

Mesa Park is located on County Road 512 in Fellsmere, FL, one mile west of
Interstate 95.  Call (888) MESA-TIX or visit www.mesapark.com for ticket
information.

I want to send out a special thanks to NASRA president Matthew Graney for
supplying information for this article.
