These rules ar only valid for Orlando Speedworld and New Smyrna Speedway 1999 LIMITED LATE MODEL RULES - FASCAR
L. BODIES:
a. Any American made: l982-97 late model production sedan. ** These include GM: Camaro, Firebird, Century, Skylark, Somerset, Celebrity, Citation, C utlass, Omega, Calais, Phoenix 600, Grand Am, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Lumina. FORD: Mercury, Mustang, Thunderbird, Cougar, Tempo, CHRYSLER: Daytona, Laser. Any other model must be approved by Tech Inspector. b. Fiberglass and aluminum allowed. c. Floorboard and Firewall MANDATORY. d. Front air dam. e. Full front and rear windshield, MANDATORY. LEXAN ONLY. f. Bodies must have a minimum 4" ground clearance. g. Rear spoiler 60" x 5", NO forward bracing. h. No lowered or sloped roofs. i. Trunk lid must be accessible (must open) HOODPINS ONLY.
2. FRAMES a. Minimum wheelbase l08" b. Stock front clip, may be altered for fuel pump, coilovers and top A- frame mounts. c. No relocating of cross members. d. Frame rails may be 2" x 3" box tubing. e. Minimum frame clearance 4" from the ground. f. Front and rear clip must be centered on frame. g. Roll Cage must go from frame rail to frame rail. h. NO FABRICATED FRONT CLIPS.
3. SUSPENSION
A. Must be stock for frame with the exception of racing shocks, wedge bolts and changing of springs. b. Spindles optional. c. Tubular top A-frames permitted. d. Coil-overs, sway bars and safety hubs are permitted. e. Coil-overs and modifications to rear suspension permitted. f. No front wheel drive. g. No 4-wheel independent suspension. h. No Tubular lower A-Frame i. Maximum tread width 65" measured from true center of the tires at spindle height. j. NO RACK AND PINION STEERING.
4. ENGINES
a. GM: 350 * FORD 351 * CHRYSLER 360. b. Engine Location. l. #1 sparkplug must be even with the top balljoint. 2. Ford and Chrysler can sit 2" behind. 3. Center of crankshaft must be l2" above ground in centerline of frame. 4. Motor must match Body. GM motor GM body., etc 5. Engine must meet factory specs. 6. Heads and valves must be stock spec. for engine. 7. 3 angle valve job and miling of heads permitted. 8. NO titanium valves. 9. NO porting or polishing l0. Flat tappet camshaft ONLY 11. NO oversize lifters. 12. Flat top pistons ONLY 13. .060 overbore plus wear 14. Steel rod ONLY 15. Crankshaft stock stroke ONLY 16. NO knife edge crankshafts. 17. NO dry sumps 18. Cast Iron, Stock OEM production heads ONLY or Part Numbers: 14011058 and 101343392, casting # 14011034. With Maximum Valve Size:
A. GM 2.020 intake * 1.600 exhaust B. FORD Cleveland 2.046 intake * 1.656 exhaust C. FORD Windsor 2.020 intake * l.600 exhaust D. CHRYSLER Corp. 2.020 intake * l.625 exhaust 19. Crankshaft NO lighter than 48 pounds. 20. NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS.
5. OTHER OPTIONS:
a. Screw in studs, guide plates, stud girdies, valve springs, retainers, roller rockers must be independent stud-type and aluminum pulleys. b. De-burring of block ONLY c. Engine balancing permitted d. Headers are allowed e. Intake Manifold: Edelbrock performer series permitted ONLY. P/N GM2101* FORD 2665, 2750, 2181 * CHRYSLER 2176. NO EXCEPTIONS f. Intake manifold #2116 allowed only on Vortec head - minimum 75lb penalty g. Manifold must remain stock h. NO porting or polishing i. NO bowtie intakes j. NO Victor Jr. intakes
6. TRANSMISSION a. Must be stock transmission in stock location ONLY b. Must have at least one forward and one reverse gear c. NO quick change transmissions d. NO in and out boxes e. NO Bert transmissions f. NO Jerico transmissions 7. CARBURETOR a. Stock Holley #0-4412, 500 CFM ONLY b. Changing of jets, power valves, drilling of idle holes in butterflies and removal of choke plate permitted. c. ONLY 1 piece carb. adapter, maximum l l/4" thick d. NO carb spacers e. Top hats allowed f. Any type cold air box allowed
8. BRAKES A. Four wheel brakes MANDATORY
9. BATTERY a MUST NOT BE LOCATED IN DRIVER'S COMPARTMENT b. Battery and any electrical connections must be a minimum of l8" from the fuel cell. c. A battery disconnect switch is MANDATORY and must be easily accessi- ble to the Safety Crew and Driver. "ON" AND "OFF" MUST BE LABELED CLEARLY TO BE SEEN BY THE SAFETY CREW FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR.
10. DRIVESHAFT: a. Drive shaft loop is required and must be constructed of at least l/4" by 2" steel and should be mounted no more than 6 inches back from the front of the drive shaft. b. DRIVE SHAFT MUST BE PAINTED WHITE.
11. WEIGHT a. 2,900 lbs. minimum b. 56% left side maximum c. Weight AFTER the race with driver. NO fluids or weights added at scale. d. ALL WEIGHT added to cars MUST be bolted in with minimum l/2" bolts with locking nuts, minimum 2 bolts/nuts per 50 lbs., minimum 5 lb. blocks and MUST be painted white with the car # painted or engraved on each block. NO WEIGHTS ALLOWED IN DRIVER'S COMPARTMENT.
12. IGNITION a. Functional, battery type. b. NO magnetos c. Must have a working starter.
13. RADIATOR a. Optional b. Radiator must a catch can mounted in front of engine fire wall. ** Optional overflow on windshield ** NO ANTIFREEZE
14. CLUTCH a. Multi disks allowed. 7" minimum
15. WHEELS/TIRES a. FASCAR Stamped track approved tires ONLY b. Maximum l0" wide, Steel racing wheels ONLY c. Tires must "punch" 48 minimum on the durometer - ALL 4 tires, at all times. d. NO wheel weights.
16. FUEL/FUEL CELL a. Scatter shield. FUEL CELL MANDATORY 22 gal. maximum with foam - must have check valve. 9" MINIMUM GROUND CLEARANCE and rear protection bar minimum. l l/4" .095 bar. 2 straps minimum l" width. surrounding the ENTIRE fuel cell. Fuel Cells must be bolted. NO RIVETS * NO SHEET METAL SCREWS. Location of fuel cells MUST be approved by Tech Inspector. PUMP FUEL ONLY. NO ALCOHOL. NO ADDITIVES. NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS
17. REAR END a. Quick change/Floater allowed
18. ROLL CAGES a. Must consist of continuous hoops not less than l.500 inch outside diameter and must have a wall thickness of at least .095. Must be frame- mounted in at least six (6) places. Body-mounted roll cages are not acceptable. Must consist of a configuration of front and rear hoops connected by tubing on the side or sides hoops in a manner deemed acceptable by the Tech Inspector. Driver's head must not protrude above cage with helmet on and strapped in Driver's seatr. Roll cage must be securely supported and braced. Low carbon, mild steel tubing is recommended. Other materials are subject to prior approval. NO iron pipe or square tubing allowed. No brazing or soldering allowed. Roll cage must have 3/l6" inspection hole in a non-critical area. NOTES: Protection of feet; Bar across back of engine recommended with vertical bars and rub rails.
19. SAFETY; (Refer to General Rules) a. ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT MUST BE USED ANYTIME THE RACE CAR IS ON THE RACING SURFACE. * DOT APPROVED HELMET AND SAFETY APPROVED GOGGOLES OR FACE SHIELD. COMPLETE FIRE SUIT. GLOVES AND SHOES. TECH APPROVED WINDOW NET WITH OUTSIDE ACCESS RELEASE, WINDOW NET MUST COVER A MINIMUM OF 75% OF WINDOW OPENING. ALUMINUM DRIVER'S SEAT IS REQUIRED. SAFETY HARNESS - APPROVED/DATED. 3 YEAR OLD MAXIMUM. FIRE EXTINGUISHER. ON BOARD FIRE SYSTEM HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
