You Can’t Be Both!
What the world does not need are any more bullies on the race track or off. Maybe what we need to do is start a whole new division - those who have money to waste on wrecking their cars trying to take out someone who is just a little faster than they are. I guess you can afford to be a bully when you have sponsors and money behind you and more than one car but hey, how many of us really have that.
The majority of your local track racers have one car, they do most of the work on it, they save for things they need for the car and the safety equipment, they set aside money from their paychecks to get into the track and if they are lucky, they win enough for that entry fee. They help their fellow drivers and the last thing they want is to be put in the wall because they did a good job tuning their car.
Why does anyone race and why if they have alot of money do they waste their time on local tracks? When you hear someone tell another driver that he has 3 cars to his one and if he gets wrecked, oh well, bring out number two, how fair is that?? If you car just does not have the horsepower it needs to pass another car but can get right on it's tail, don't push that car so it will go into the wall. Just face the fact that that driver did his job and now you have to do your's better. I don't believe nor do I want to believe that fans only come to theraces to see wrecks. In that case, you might as well sit on the mediums on I-4, or I-95 or 528.
They say the one car teams in NASCAR will soon be a thing of the past. And that will be a shame. Racing is getting further and further away from how it originally started. Our local tracks and the one car owners who still take care of that car is about as close as you can get to a "true, blue racer". -Jane Smith Comment on this story? Post it on the Message Board! |
