                Speedweeks - New Smyrna

For night 6 of Speedweeks, we saw a 50 lap Late Model race.  But the fog was
moving in fast and to keep it off the track, we really needed the cars to be
moving.  Scott Frazer, #31x of Canada, had the pole for the 50 lap race and
won from the pole.  Scott did a great job of clearing fog off the track as no
one could catch him tonight.  And good news, Ronnie Burkett #3l finished
the race tonight - no torn up car for once.  But Jack Cook, Wayne Anderson,
David Rogers, and Jr. Hanley all at one time or another were sent to the rear
for spinning.  When all was done, the top five were:

l.  #31x - Scott Frazer
2.  #38 - Lee Faulk
3.  #31 - Ronnie Burkett
4.  #99p - Steve Carlson
5.  #25 - Chris Wimmer

In the Limited Late Models, we saw the #7 of Dan Delisle with the pole.  Dan
really wanted his first win of Speedweeks but once again, Brad Barkis, our
16 year old, in the #l0x had a different idea.  Brad took the lead and never
gave it up.  Top five were:

1.  #10x - Brad Barkis
2.  #7 - Dan Delisle
3.  #22 - Fred Berger
4.  #90 - Russ Wood
5.  #07 - Jeff Scoffield

In the NASCAR Tour Type and SK Mods, we saw George Kent in the #26
leading almost the entire race.  But on one of the last restarts, Ted
Christopher, in the #00,  got the best of him and took the lead.   Top
five were:

1.  #00 - Ted Christopher
2.  #26 - George Kent
3.  #9 - Eric Beers
4.  #99 - Jamie Tomaino
5.  J.D. Bertuccio

In the Florida Modifieds, we saw the #3lx with the pole but it was a Tank
Tucker #15 night.  Tank took the lead early in the race and kept it.  Top
five were:

1.  #15 - Tank Tucker
2.  #19 - Tom Root
3.  #7x - Jessie Almeida
4.  #66 - Jerry Symons
5.  #3r - Ryan Cawley

Due to the number of wrecked and blown-up engines in the Sportsman
division tonight, the field was small compared to what it was.  We saw
the #22 of Fred Berger with the pole but it was Gary Vivian in his black
#90 Sportsman leading the field.  Jerry Smith, in the #711, tried to catch
Gary but could not.  Top five were:

1.  #90 - Gary Vivian
2.  #711 - Jerry Smith
3.  #98 - Chuck Vola
4.  #62 - Randy Hecker
5.  #3l - Brian Holifield

And last but not least, we had the final Mini-Stock race of Speedweeks.  The
#55
of Rick Tumrey had the pole but it was the #03 of Timmy Hunley that lead
almost the entire race.  But on the last lap, somehow Timmy was turned around
right before the start/finish and the win was given to the #KD1 car of Terry
Cady.
Tempers flew some in this race and one driver was attacked from behind and
this was uncalled for.  Thank goodness the kids had gone home and few
if any were left at the track.  Top five were:

1.  #KD1 - Terry Cady
2.  #25 - Tim Clark
3 #3l - Greg Luecki
4.  #11 - Pedie Allison
5.  #7l - Ted Vulipus

Join us for Night 7 and a 50 lap NASCAR Tour Type and SK Mods 50 Lap
race.
