Putnams Final Night of the 2002 season | The final night of the 2002 season at Putnam County Speedway was a "night of fun for everyone". The "Mini Monster Trucks" was the most contreversial race of the night after Track Manager Lance Ward driving "Grave Digger" was Black Flagged for "unsportsmanlike driving". Track Scorer Cissy Layman driving "King Krunch" was declared the winner and "Queen Of The Mini Monsters". Also competing were track officials Donald Hoyt, Mike Trosper, Bobby Paul, Jim Pugh, Bobby Layman, Terry Pugh, Dave Garison, Rick Stuteville and Ronnie Brown. Afterwards all the kids came down to the track for pictures and candy.
Ronnie Soltis won the Hobby Stock feature in his familiar #61 Camaro. This was his twelfth win of the season in the division. Second was Gordon Peck followed in third by " 2002 Points Champion" Jeff Terrell. Burman Cannon and Derek Hullett round out the top five.
Chris Hammond won his fourth straight in the Mini Stock division on there final night as the Mini's will not be back at the speedway next season. His teammate Richard Tipton was second followed by John Hopke, Art Souther and Mike Gibbs. Gibbs also won the "2002 Points Championship" and is the only repeat Champion winning in 2001 as well.
Late Models was won by J.O. Nobles. J.O. was only beat four times this year in his #18 Duty Racing Monte Carlo raking up twleve wins. Shane Williams was second followed by Tony Lewis, Steve Pratt and newcomer Wilson Griffis in fifth.
Ken Durham Won the Pure Stock Feature and 2002 Championship. Ken led most of the race and was never really challenged for the lead. It was a long season for Ken as he jumped out to an early lead but was then caught and passed in the late summer but regained the lead for the final three weeks. Second in the feature was L.J. Klemons. Scott Booth, David Moody and Peggy Cone round out the top five.
Ronnie Soltis once again won two features in one night winning the Street Stock Feature as well as the earlier mentioned Hobby feature. Ronnie has won four races since taking over the Flanders Family G5 in mid season. John Reiter was second. Tony Lewis, Jared Cooper and Floyd Martin Jr. were the top five.
Marion Sizemore came out of a 8 race long winless streak to pick up his 9th win of the season in the Modified division. Jason Lowe looked like the favorite to win but Marion came out on top of a side by side battle to led the field to the checkers over Lowe the "2002 Points Champion". Donny Higginbotham was third over Mark Prewitt and Kenny Blair.
