Hialeah, Fla - Gary McGoron padded his late model sportsman points lead with a wire to wire victory in the 25 lap feature event Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Starting his Sunoco-Twin Oil Pontiac from the outside of the front row, McGoron got the jump on Bobby Shelton and was never headed throughout. Street stock grad Gary Padula claimed runner-up honors ahead of Shelton, Danny Maddox and Pat Flack.
John Bentley was the dominator in the street stocks as he powered through the field for his third 25 lap victory this season. Early leader Ron Wilson was second over Bubba Martone, Frank Kelliher and Jeff Roberts.
Mini Stock action saw the Mustang of Bill Calder the victor with a good drive over points leader Tommy Styer, John Namor, Harold Cross and Eli Pollard.
The always competitive cyclone 25 lap headliner fell to John Pettit as he just edged Ron Regula for top honors. Tony Crowder, Harvey Freeman and Mike Blinco completed the top five runners.
Steve Dielmann proved the best of the figure 8 action in a brand new car ahead of George Morales, Regula, Mark Bradley and Tony Barreca. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! news@karnac.orgor send a letter to the editor!
