Clouser Wins 50 Lap Super Stock Special - Slawiak Takes TBARA Feature at NSS

With full stands, a half moon overlooking the track and
28 Super Stocks in the pits and a number of winged
sprints, fans got a good show at New Smyrna Speedway
on September 28.

Rick Johns #4, coming off a win the previous night at
Orlando SpeedWorld, came to New Smyrna Speedway and
not only won the heat race but the feature race. Ron
Lufcy #07 sat on the pole for the feature event and
did lead for a few laps until he had mechanical problems
and retired from the race. Johns got the lead and never
looked back. Steve Redditt #1 brought out the caution
when he hit the backstretch wall. On the restart Johns
had Donnie Williams #111 right on his tail but Williams
was not able to shake Johns. Following Johns to the
checker was #111 Donnie Williams, #09E Dusty Downer, #3
Marty Wolf, #46 Mike Trocki, #55 Jimy Snyder, #l Steve
Redditt, and #07 Ron Lufcy.

The Super Stocks had three heat races leading up to the
big "50" lapper. Jack Lenzen #211, Ron Whaley #2, and
Ted Helms #61 won the heats. On the pole for the 50
lapper was #27 Ted Head. Head and Helms went side-by
side for several laps until Head was able to pull away
and take the lead. Following Head was Ron Whaley, Jack
Lenzen, Ted Helms, and Charlie Collisn. Just as #23
Collins takes the lead from Head, Collins's motor blows
on lap 18. On the restart, Head still held the lead but
#2 Ron Whaley took over. After two more cautions for the
blue #11 and #77, Whaley lost the lead on lap 30 to #17
Rich Clouser. Clouser lead until lap 36 when #211 Jack
Lenzen took over the lead. Following Lenzen to the
checker was #17 Rich Clouser, #27 Ted Head, #61 Ted Helms,
#21 Josh Wronkowski and #16 David Gould.

In tech, money was put up for the #211 to be torn down.
The #211 refused to pull his motor and was disqualified
giving the win to #17 Rich Clouser moving #27 Ted Head
to second, #61 Ted Helms to third, #21 Josh Wronkowski
to fourth and #16 DAvid Gould to fifth.

David Slawiak #79 and #19 Keith Butler won the heat races
for the TBARA Winged Sprints. On the pole for the feature
event was the #32. But on the green, the #51 took the lead
for several laps until Slawiak put his #79 to the point and
never looked back leading the rest of the laps. Following
Slawiak to the checker was #00 Wayne Reutimann, Jr., #2 Scott
Adema, #18 Shane Butler, and #51.

Justin Henderson #16 won the heat race for the Modifieds
but it was the #70 Dave Savicki on the pole for the feature
event. Savicki was able to take the lead on the green
but it was the outside polesitter #41 Mike Fritts who
passed Savicki and took the lead. Justin Henderson #16
was running third until his motor let go and he had to
retire to the pits. Following Fritts to the checker
was #70 Dave Savicki, #7 Mark Vandevender, #3 Wayne
Parker, and #00 Wayne Southard.

Todd Driscall and James Smith took the heat wins for the
Strictly Stocks. On the pole for the feature event was
#47 but it was the #65 James Smith that took the lead.
Smith lead until the #91 Todd Driscall took over the lead
and never let go. Following Driscall to the checker
was #65 James Smith, #20 Justin Reynolds, #27 Barry Parks,
and #65s James Smith, Sr.

Join us next week for FASCAR regular heat and feature
racing.
