Full Moon Looks Down on Orlando SpeedWorld

To say it was a wild and wooly night at Orlando SpeedWorld
would be a correct statement. After a nice rain and
drying of the track, slowly but surely the full moon began
to rise high above the raceway and it certainly made it's
effects known Friday night.

Frank Polly #34 won the heat race for the Open Wheel
Modifieds. But after a heat race accident, the #75
Bobby Blake was out for the feature and John Foerg #30
had repairs to be made for the feature. Blake ended up
in the #4 Modified since he and Foerg are running neck
and neck for the points lead right now.

On the pole for the feature event was #2 Skip Honaker.
It took three restarts before the first lap ever got
down in the books. On the first start, #34 Polly took
a little ride on the front stretch brushing the wall.
On the second restart, #2 Honaker spins on the bottom
between turns 1 and 2. On the third restart, it was
#34 Polly to the lead and never looking back. Following
Polly to the checkers it was #55 Shane Held, #30 John
Foerg, #38 Dave Debelius, #2 Skip Honaker, and #4 Bobby
Blake.

Troy Atkins #14 Bandolero won the heat race and sat on
the pole for the feature event. But it was Patrick
Conrad in the #6 who jumped to the lead and never let
go. Atkins held on for second followed by #63 Dalton
Zehr, #11,and #1.

Legends saw the #99 and #25 take the heat wins. The #25
sat on the pole and took the lead from the green.
Following the #25 to the checkers was #47, #17, #20,
and #99.

Richard Hight #23 and Earl Beckner #3 took the heat wins
for the Sportsman. On the pole for the feature event
was the #93 Bruce Gayton. But it was Kelly Jarrett in
the #9 who quickly took the lead and never looked back.
The #23 Hight and #3 Beckner took a little ride on the
frontstretch but both continued. Also #4 Rick Johns
took a spin towards the back gate pit divider but was
able to stop the car from hitting it. Following Jarrett
to the checkers was #8 Rich Clouser, #3 Eark Beckner,
#31 Paul Colgan, #93 Bruce Gayton, #4 Rick Johns, #77
Danny Shearer, #23 Richard Hight, #80 Donnie Smith, #15
Bobby Rinaldi, #73 Mark Miller and #22 Homer Gordon.

Jared Allison #18 won the heat for the Super Late Models.
On the pole for the feature event was #45 Mack Hanbury
but it was the #47 Rusty Ebersole who jumped to the lead
and held on for the checkers. Following Ebersole was
#26 Mike Murphy, #18 Jared Allison, #45 Mack Hanbury,
#5 Derek Strong, #26d Eric Deffendal, #54 Russ Thomson,
#34 Bobby Fletenger, and #44 Greg Brooks.

Tim "Missileman" McPhail won the heat for the Mini Stocks.
On the pole for their feature event was the #07 Dick Lazslo.
But on the first half lap of the race, Lazslo and McPhail
seemed to get locked together between turns 1 and 2 sending
Lazslo hard into the wall and damaging McPhail's car.
The #07 was towed into the pits and the #7 went down
to the pit road. Lazslo had a cut on his leg and hurt his
neck in the accident. On the restart, it was the #88
R.J. Arnone on the pole. Arnone and #28 Sean Bass were
battling hard, side-by-side, door-to-door when they made
contact sending Bass up and into the backstretch wall.
Bass's car looked like it was going to flip but settled
back down. With only two cars left, the win went to
#30 Bobby Orr with #3 Cory Kaiser in second.

Cory Freed #12 won the heat for the Super Stocks. On the
pole for the feature event was #00 John Hodge who quickly
went to the point and held on to the checkers. Following
Hodge was #50 Jeff Wright, #64 Bill Cuddy, #7b Bob Wines,
#44 Bob Beiler, #16 David Gould, #79 Rip Dyal, #2 Ron
Whaley, #12 Cory Freed, #28T Glenn Tatum, and #16 Jerry
Maxsom.

Coy Riddle #1 won the heat for the Strictly Stocks and
sat on the pole for their feature event. But it was
the #20 Justin Reynolds who took the lead and never
looked back. Following Reynolds was #1 Coy Riddle,
#6 Joe Whittenton, and #27 Robert Ward.
