Gayton Wins Sportsman at Orlando SpeedWorld

Dark clouds surrounded Orlando SpeedWorld as all
divisions got ready for a night of racing action. Due
to the Pro Challenge and Dwarf cars as the special
events, there were features only for all FASCAR divisoins
except the Bandeleros, Dwarfs, and Pro Challenge cars.

Patrick Conrad #5 and Matt Martin #2 shared the heat wins
in the Bandelero divisions. In the Bandits feature, it
was #2 Matt Martin taking home the win with #73, #60 Chad
Ctkins, #38, #25 Jarrett, and #22 Anderson taking the
top five.

Young Guns saw #5 Patrick Conrad take the win followed
by #5, #21, #14 Chad Atkins and #11 Brandon Thomson.

Pro Challenge saw the #1 take the heat win. Special
driver in the #5 truck, Tim "Missileman" McPhail, who
was given the ride for his birthday, came home in 5th
place in the heat. It was also the #1 on the pole for
the feature race and taking the checkers followed by
#24, #10, #56 and #5 Tim "Missileman" McPhail.

Dwarfs had three heat races with #8x, #68 and #06
taking the wins. On the pole for the feature race
was the #8x who also won from the pole leading every
lap. Following #8x across the checkers was #8, #68,
#5, and #22.

Kory Kaiser #3 sat on the pole for the Mini Stock feature
with #07 Dick Laszlo taking the lead on the green. Laszlo
held the lead for several laps until the #7 Tim McPhail
made his way to the front. Bobby Orr #30, who lucked
out and started in the 6th spot instead of 8th due to a
car falling out, made his way up to the front to duke
it out with McPhail. Orr made the pass and took the
lead and the checkers. Following Orr was #7 Tim
"Missileman" McPhail, #07 Dick Laszlo, #88 R.J. Arnone,
#28 Sean Bass, #3 Kory Kaiser, #34 Josh Robinson, #6
Jamie Dixson, #43 Tom Rose and #85 Rex Hollinger.

Jared Allison sat on the pole in his #18 Super Late
Model. Allison jumped to the point on the green but
was unable to hold off a hard charging #14 Ronnie
Roach. Following Roach to the point was the #88 Travis
Kittleson who took over second putting Allison to
third. They remained this way as Roach took the
checkers. Following Roach was #88 Travis Kittleson,
#18 Jared Allison, #54 Russ Thompson, #26D Eric Deffendal,
and #5 Derrick Strong.

Carl Peters #1 Super Stock sat on the pole and won from
the pole leading every single lap. Before the race really
got going, the #92 Bobby Simcox hit the #17 Rich Clouser
breaking off the valve stem on his tire and forcing
Clouser to retire to the pits. Simcox was sent to the
rear and the race restarted. Following Carl Peters to
the checkers was #00 John Hodge, #12 Cory Freed, #2 Ron
Whaley, #50 Jeff Wright, #92 Bobby Simcox, #7b Bob Wines,
#64 Billy Cuddy, #79 Rip Dyal, #16, #44 Bob Berter, and
#17 Rich Clouser.

Bobby Blake #75 sat on the pole for the modified feature
event but it was #34 Frank Polly who got the jump and
took the lead on the green. Polly did a good job of
holding off #2x Jason Boyd but Boyd was not to be denied
as he wanted the win and Boyd was able to pass Polly for
the lead. Following Boyd across the checkers was #30
John Foerg, #34 Frank Polly, #3 Wayne Parker, #75 Bobby
Blake and #55 Shain Held.

Kelly Jarrett #9 sat on the pole for the Sportsman
feature event and lead for most of the race. Behind
Jarrett was the #77 Danny Shearer and #31 Paul Colgin.
Onne again, Colgan #31 lost an engine putting oil all
over the track. The race was red flagged for clean-up.
When the race restarted, Shearer #77 hit the #9 in the
rear slightly and both went up towards the wall in the
oil slick left. Both were sent to the rear of the
field with #93 Bruce Gayton getting the lead. Gayton
was able to hold on and take the checkers for his first
win of the 2002 season. Following Gayton across the
checkers was #3 Earl Beckner, #28, #9 Kelly Jarrett,
and #77 Danny Shearer.

Strictly Stock saw the #20 Justin Reynolds on the pole
for their feature event but it was the #33 Frank
Costantino who took the point. Costantion was able to
hold the lead until the #45 Jim Leslie made his pass
and took over for the win. Following #45 Jim Leslie
was #33 Frank Costantino, #20 Justin Reynolds, #14
Roger Benton, and #27 Robert Ward.

Next week come and watch as the Officials duke it out
plus our regular FASCAR divisions.

HAPPY LABOR DAY
