Ron Wilson Wins Street Stocks at Hialeah Speedway | by Marty Little Hialeah, Fla - After being close on several occasions, Ron Wilson finally stopped his winless streak and won the 20 lap street stock feature Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Wilson urged his Camaro into the lead at the outset and never looked back in hustling to the checkers ahead of John Bentley and Roger Bohannon.
The special 50 lap mini stock main went to former track champion David Russell and his potent Toyota. Current points leader Tommy Styer gave Russell all the pressure he needed but a bumping incident on lap 48 sent Styer to the back of the lead lap cars. Robert Goldsbury claimed runner-up honors over Bill Miner who just nipped Styer at the line with Bill Calder rounding out the top five.
Cyclone points leader Bruce Moerlins claimed his fourth victory of the year with a great late race move on leader Gabe Hernandez. Ron Regular checkered second in the 25 lap run over brother Bob Regular, Harvey Freeman and Hernandez.
George Morales topped the pure stock field in the 25 lap main with a steady drive over Frank Kelliher, Sean Bulaskas, Ray Moreno and Roger Pfau.
Ron Regula bested Bentley to win the figure 8 event with Jermamdez. Bpb Regi;ar amd David Weaver next to the checkers. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! news@karnac.orgor send a letter to the editor!
