It's time to race!

   

August 5, 2002

Kevin Lumley Wins 4-Cyl Class at Auburndale

Again devoted fans stayed through the light rain shower that
delayed the races, but they got all classes in and great
racing was ongoing throught the night.

Kids Club was the featured racing for the weekend sponsored
by Florida Barns, with the Seniors taking the green first.
Orrin Wright #2 was on the pole and took the lead with #97
Craig Cuzzone 2nd and #49 John Cummins 3rd, single file
racing until Cuzzone started putting pressure on Wright
for the lead and with l lap to go Cuzzone got to the in-
side of Wright and took the lead, the same time #36
Laura Weaver got underneath Cummins for 3rd.
4 - 49 John Cummins
5 - 21 Daniel McClain

Juniors were next, #18 Gregory Harris bringing them to the
green flag and #29 Matthew Cummins running 2nd, #9 Levi
Hobbs went under #0l Casey Howell for 4th, #10 Michele
Deaton after starting 2nd and slow on the start but kept
going single file up front but a good battle between
Hobbs and #26 Pamela Weaver for 3rd Weaver taking a hard
hit into the wall in the warm-ups was offered the #26
car of Brandi Stifle to race for the night. Hobbs got
under Weaver for the spot then Weaver pulled in with l
lap to go, Gregory Harris takes the win. Matthew Cummins
2nd and Levi Hobbs 3rd.

5-10 Michele Deaton
6- (58) 26 Pamela Weaver

Novice A Class had #27 Hollie Anderson taking the lead #7
Brittney Pitts 2nd and #42 Jonathon Guy running 3rd.
Michael Henderson #94 went to the outside of #8 Kimbra
Hobbs for the 4th spot then went around Guy for the 3rd
position, #86 Jason Gamble drops some fluid on the track
and #84 Ashlee Williamson slides in it but both keep going,
restart Henderson puts pressure on Anderson for the lead
and takes it with a few laps to go but Hobbs and Guy
tangle and stop in turn l brining out the caution on the
last restart going back to the last completed lap Anderson
gets the lst spot again but Henderson went under Anderson
and took the win, Brittney Pitts took home 3rd.

6-42 Jonathon Guy
7-8 Kimbra Hobbs
8-86 Jason Gamble

Novice B #63 Johnny Gamble took the top spot #20 Megan
Patton 2nd and #43 Brett Jenkins went to the outside of
Patton for 2nd #00 Devan Fair follows but Patton and
Fair tangle in turn 4 bringing out the caution both
restarting in the rear, green out again Gamble slowing
in turn 4 and Jenkins puts the bumper to him not knowing
Gamble was having mechanical trouble and Gamble stops on
the front stretch having to go to the pits, restart #26
Brandi Stifle got to the inside of #88 Justin Haranda
for the 3rd spot #92 Stephen Brown and Fair follow to
4th and 5th spots, Stifle gets under #5 Casey Smith for
the 2nd spot and again Brown and Fair follow to 3rd and
4th, but Brett Jenkins takes the win with Brandi Stifle
2nd and Stephen Brown II finishes 3rd.

With the FMSC race being cancelled at NSS we had some of
the Auburndale regulars come back in time to race with
us bringing the Mini-Stock class to 19 cars for the night.
Chris Palmer #5 started from the pole and lead most of
the race till toward the end #9 Robbie Storer took the
lead with only a handful of laps to go. Battles in the
middle of the pack between #89 Scott Sharpe, #77 Lee
David, #99 Jamie Kennedy, and #2 Corbin Gibbs. Kennedy
spinning after battling with Storer for 3rd causing a
wreck #18 Kenny Hankins had no where to go and hit
Kennedy. Robbie Storer went on to win, with Scott
Sharpe 2nd and Corbin Gibbs 3rd.

V-8 Street Stocks were ready to rumble with #77 Johnny
Vaughn bringing them to the green, #21 Chris Narramore
2nd and #32 David Holland 3rd top 3 never changed
positions, #40 Mike Pitts went to the outside of #38
Jason Stifle after Stifle got loose coming out of turn
4 then Pitts got under #08 Daniel Clough for 4th.
Johnny Vaughn took the win, Chris Narramore 2nd and
David Holland 3rd.

Kevin Lumley started from the pole in the 4 Cyl class
and was never challenged #54 Jimmy Smith 2nd and #3
Terry Jones running 3rd, #l DAvid Jouppi was off the
pace and getting lapped before the race was over, #96
Larry Chumney got under Jones for the 3rd spot, Kevin
Lumley took the lst spot, Jimmy Smith 2nd and Larry
Chumney 3rd.

8-9 Darryl Ashmore, Jr.
9-31 Jerod Guy

Super Stocks had #9 Jimmy Castleberry taking the lead on
the green, #62 Travis Wilson 2nd and #13 Aaron Williamson
3rd, #0l Chris Lewellen got under #40 Robert Eddy for 4th,
3 way battle between #26 Ronnie Miller, #31 Donnie Harp,
and #2 Paul Gibbs, Miller and Harp spin causing the caution
to come out. #12 David Williamson moves up a couple spot
after #16 R.J. Williams and Williamson pass #51 Randy
Shearer, then Williamson passes Williams for 6th. Miller
spins in turn 2 but coming out of turn 4 the leader Castle-
berry gets sideways from liquid on the track from Millers'
car. Restart Castleberry slow coming out of turn 4 giving
the lead to Wilson and moving Gibbs into the top 5 but
Travis Wilson for the 2nd week in a row took the win.
Aaron Williamson 2nd and Chris Lewellen 3rd.

LLM had 13 cars in the feature race, #25 Billy Norris was
on the pole and took the lead from the start #55 Richard
Elkins Jr. went to the ijnside of #54 Steve Black for the
2nd spot, #45 Sam Cressman got to the outside of #0l Bryan
Storer for the 4th spot and #65 Ollie Harbin follows to
5th, on the backstretch Cressman spins #00 Ronnie Heard
spins into the infield and #l Bart Weatherford backs it
into the wall, Weatherford goes to the pits with a flat
tire. Restart Elkins gets under Norris for the lead but
they make contact and that went Elkins over the hood of
Norris's car, both to restart in the rear, handing the
lead to Black, Harbin 2nd , Heard 3rd, #71 Dave Dunkin
4th and #5 Jason Bennett 5th. Dunkin got under Heard
for the 3rd spot and Bennett follows, Dunkin gets to the
outside of Harbin for 2nd and then under Black for the
lead, meanwhile #8 Ricky Scruggs and Cressman bump off
of each other on the backstretch then Scruggs gets side-
ways in turn 3 and the back end of his car taps Cressman
when it came around collecting Cressman too. Restart
with l lap to go, Dave Dunkin takes home lst, Steve Black
2nd, and Ollie Harbin 3rd.

Next weeks scheduled feature race is the Legend Cars with
all regular classes running LLM, Mini-Stocks, 4-Cyl,
Super Stocks, and V-8 Street Stocks. There is a weekly
bike give-a-way provided by Bob Storer all children receive
a ticket at the gate for the drawing. Come join the
racing action starting at 7:00 P.M.
