Sean Bass Wins His First Feature Mini Stock Race at Orlando SpeedWorld

No rain on the schedule for July 19th at Orlando SpeedWorld.
Although lightning could be seen very close to the track,
not one drop of rain came our way. For the first time in
a blue moon, Orlando SpeedWorld got to race.

Legends and the TBARA Winged Sprints were the special
events of the night. The Super Lates and Open Wheel
Modifieds had the night off due to the big race at
Lakeland's USA International this weekend. But, even
though they were missed, it was a full and great show.

More and more Bandoleros are coming to Orlando SpeedWorld.
Winning the heat race was the #6 who also sat on the pole
for the feature race and won from the pole. #14 Troy
Atkins did a real good job of making his way into third
place until he spun out in the feature race. Crossing
the checkers behind the #6 was #63, #2 Matt Martin, #00,
and #l Woods.

The TBARA Winged Sprints saw #3x Bo Hartley, #79 David
Slawiak, and #22 Wayne Reutimann win the heat races. Two
of the Sprints were not able to make the main event, the
#80 of Wendy Mathis and #0 Dude Teate. Although they
were missed, there was still plenty of excitement.

On the pole for the feature race was #76 but it was the
#79 of David Slawiak who was on a mission 'A WIN'. Slawiak
held the lead the entire race and never looked back.
Following Slawiak across the checkers was #22 Wayne
Reutimann, #18 Shane Butler, #91 (don't know who was
driving but Dave Steele has driven this car), #19
Keith Butler, and #00 Wayne Reutimann, Jr. For fans who
love these winged sprints who roar like lions, they will
also be at New Smyrna Speedway on the 20th.

The #25 and #49 were the big heat winners in the Legends.
On the pole for their feature event was the #25 who lead
a great deal of the race until the #l took the lead and
crossed the checkers for the win. Following #l was #25,
#8, #99, #00.

#50 Jeff Wright and #12 Cory Freed were the heat winners
in the Super Stock division. On the pole for their feature
event was the #2 Ron Whaley. Whaley held the lead for a
short period of time until the #l of Carl Peters took over.
But it was the #50 of Jeff Wright who lead when it counts
the most, to the checkers. Following Wright was #2 Ron
Whaley, #00 John Hodge, #92 Bobby Simcox and #67 Darren
Gould.

Rick Johns #4 and Kelly Jarrett #9 took the heat wins in
the Sportsman Division. On the pole for the feature event
was the #77 Danny Shearer. The #23 Robert Hight, #9 Kelly
Jarrett and #4 Rick Johns all took their turns with the
lead but it was the #4 Johns who lead in the end. Follow-
ing Johns to the checkers was #9 Kelly Jarrett, #2 Brett
Bultemeier, #3 Earl Beckner and #23 Robert Hight.

Bobby Orr #30 and #98 were the heat winners in the Mini
Stock division. On the pole was the #18 Kenny Hankins but
on the start, his car did not want to go and he had to
pull in and retire for the night. This put the #98 on the
pole for the restart with the #28 Sean Bass on the outside.
The #98 jumped to the lead and was able to maintain it un-
til almost the end of the race when young Sean took over
and NEVER looked back. Coming from the rear of the field
to finish fifth was Tim "Missileman" McPhail who was the
last winner in this division before the rains began. Follow-
ing Sean across the checkers (THIS WAS SEAN'S FIRST FEATURE
WIN IN THE MINI STOCK DIVISION) was #30 Bobby Orr, #98,
#99 Tom Clark and #7 Tim "Missileman" McPhail. Congratulations
go to young Sean and we know we will see him again in
Victory Lane.

The Strictly Stocks saw the #5 Charlie Pitts and #l as the
heat winners. On the pole for the feature race was the
#55 who also won from the pole. The #5 Pitts tried to take
the lead but just couldn't. Following #55 across the checkers
was #5, #33, #l, and #0.

Next weekend all FASCAR divisions will be running with Mini
Cup cars. See ya then
