Stuart Robertson Gets First Feature Win | By Marty Little
HIALEAH, Fla. - Journeyman driver Stuart Robertson notched his first victory of the season in the 12 lap late model sportsman feature event Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Robertson got the jump on point leader Gary McGoron at the green and paced the two time champ to the checkers. T.C. McElyea, Richard Wasteney and Steve Weaver, Jr rounded out the top five.
McElyea had a clean sweep in the street stocks as he won his heat and the 25 lap main. Chad Rutherford chased McElyea but settled for runner-up honors over Greg Gorniak, Ron Wilson and Tony Wilson.
Making only his second appearance of the year, David Russell won the mini stock 25 lap headliner over point leader Tommy Styer. Arcy Anderson brought his ancient Mercury Capri home third over Jerry Woodall and Doug Northcut.
Roger Bohannon scored his initial pure stock win with a good drive over points leader John Bentley in the 25 lap event. Chris Taylor, Mike Crehan and Billy Joyner rounded out the top five runners.
Victor Leo proved the best of the figure 8 set over Bohannon and George Morales while Ryan Dundas topped Mike Harrison and Richard Crisafulli in the visiting Mini Cup main. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! news@karnac.orgor send a letter to the editor!
