Steve Quick Takes Outlaw Modified Win at Hieleah Speedway | By Marty Little
Steve Quick scored a clean sweep of the Outlaw Modified program Saturday night at Hileah Speedway as he won his heat race then came back to lead wire to wire in the 25 lap headliner.
Wheeling Dee Powell's fleet No. 1, Quick took advantage of his front row starting position and once in front never looked back enroute to his first win this season. Raymond Jones got around Doug Hooper in the closing laps to gain the runner-up money with Lance Hoverson fourth and his father Ted Hoverson rounding out the top five finishers.
Tony Crowder scored an impressive win in the 25 lap Cyclone Shootout as he topped Harvey Freeman, Bob Regula, George Morales and Bruce Moerlins for the victory.
A trio of 25 lap Figure 8 events were on the card with Victor Leo the best of the school bus both ways action over Mark Schoedinger and Mark Bradley while Kenny Thornton bested Jim McPeak and John Kahl in the Pro 8 event. John Bentley beat Schoedinger and Gabe Hernandez in the Cyclone 8 main.
Leo came back to win the demolition derby and Jimmy Drummond was the best of the blindfold race entrants.
