Brent Chilson Wins Late Model Feature at Volusia Speedway Park | DeLand Truck Center Late Models - With one of the best looking racecars on the track when the race started, #99 Brent Chilson ended the race looking just as good in Victory Lane.
Chilson, a local driver, battled with South Florida driver #17 Joe Kump as they both had fast Late Model racecars. Kump's car lifted several inches off the track as he came out of the turns and at one point his car got into #53 John Rankin and pulled off a piece of Rankin's body carrying it with him several laps until a caution was thrown and an official stopped him on the front stretch removing the debris from Kump's car.
Lap traffic always causes concern and Chilson had to deal with it several times but was able to clear them and hold on to his lead.
With only 5 laps to go, Kump got loose and lost his 2nd place spot to #88 Chris Vogel. The top 5 were #99 Brent Chilson, #88 Chris Vogel, #17 Joe Kump, #57 Chuck Julien, and #241 Greg Ward.
