Tommy Styer Makes It Five In A Row At Hialeah | by Marty Little
Travis McCoy grabbed the lead from Ron Wilson on lap 38 and sped to the win in the 50 lap street stock feature Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Wilson paced the 14 car field from the pole until intense heat in the cockpit forced him off the pace and several cars drove under his fleet Camaro. Gary Padula checkered second over T.C. McElyea, Steve Dielmann and Bob Hogan.
Mini stock phenom Tommy Styer made it five wins in as many starts this season in the small cars as he easily outpaced the Toyota of Eddie Lowery, Bill Miner, Scott Rogers and Bill Calder in the 25 lap contest.
Cyclone action saw Mike Powers top the 22 car field in convincing fashion with an easy drive over Victor Leo, Tony Crowder, Don Morey and young Zane Reid in the 25 lap event.
Gabe Hernandez used a borrowed car to claim his first pure stock victory of the season. Trailing at the checkers in the 20 lap event were point leader Roger Bohannon, Roger Pfau, Randall Glover and Billy Joyner. Have an opinion on this story?
