Mother Nature Stops the Action on Night Three at NSS

Clouds and sprinkles during the day put off practice time for an hour. But this did not stop the TBARA Winged Sprints from coming in. Fans trickled in for night three to see these Winged sprint cars and they did. The #0 of Leroy Teate Racing sat on the pole but it was the #10 of Matt Mercer who took the lead and held on for the win. The #35 hit the backstretch wall and was quickly releaved of his driving suit to stop the alcohol fire from the accident. The driver was fine and his machine was not badly hurt. The top five were the #10, #19, #91, #18 and #78. Names to come later since I could not get a rooster for this field.

The only other division that got to go on the track before the rain came was the Florida/IMCA Open Wheel Modifieds. Jon Compagnone sat on the pole and took the lead on the green. But once again, it was the #66 of Jerry Symons coming up fast and taking the lead and the win for his second win of the three nights. Symons left Saturday night to race in the Blue/Grey race. Following Symons was Steve Johanneck, Jason Boyd, Chad Poole and Wayne Parker.

The 911 Racing cars did get on the track but their race was red flagged when the rain came. They and the TBARA Winged Sprints will return for Night 4 with the NASCAR Tour Type/SK Mods having the night off.

Hopefully, Mother Nature will be kinder on night four and not rain although warm clothes will still be in demand.

Jane Smith
