Tanner Claims Strawberry Dash in 25th Anniversary Season Opener at East Bay

(Tampa, FL; 3/3/01) - In season opener Late Model action, Roger Crouse out of Plant City followed Brandon's Donnie Tanner for 24 laps. In the final lap, Tanner got caught up in lapped traffic, opening the door for Crouse. Crouse took the lead coming out of turn 4 for his very popular win. Bill Howard followed Crouse for 2nd over Tanner, Philip Cobb and Bobby Alexander, Sr. Heat wins went to Crouse and Tanner, with Tanner taking the Blue Ribbon Farms/ Goodson Farms Strawberry Dash Feature.

In Limited Late Model action, Jerry Rogers took the win over 2000 Champ, Jeff Mathews, who was followed by Don Gansner, Terry Gay, and Raymond Rogers. Heats went to Gansner and Buddy Wisham.

Terry Bronson held off his cousin, Jason Bronson to claim the Street Stock opener. Steve Johnson took 3rd over Bruce Ponti and Wayne Hayes. Heats went to Terry Bronson, Dave Wright and Danny Paris, while Timmy Bronson took the Consi.

In Sprint car action, it was Kenny Adams cruising home the winner over Sport Allen, Gene Lasker, Red Stauffer and Brian Maddox. Heats went to Maddox and Paulie Milum.

In Limited Sprints, Andy Kelley held off Tim George, Clyde Poole, Allen Achillich, and Kurt Taylor. Heats went to Gene Lasker and Donnie Maxwell.

The Mini-Stock main went to 2000 Champ, Devin Dixon, who was followed by Kenny Rutledge, Rich Livernois, Scott Howard, and William Hampton. Heats went to Dixon, Rutledge, and Livernois, while Forrest Gough claimed the Consi. Scotty Williams crossed the checkers second in the Mini-Stock Main, but was found illegal and disqualified.
