Carlton Tops In Florida Pro Late Models | (Inverness, FL; 11/4/2000) Having home track advantage on his side, Florida Pro Series points, leader Rick Carlton, jumped from the outside pole and led all 125 laps to win Saturday night's tour event at Citrus County Speedway.
Aboard the McNatt Plumbing Chevy, Carlton set fast time then drew the outside of the front row on the redraw. When the green flag flew, he out-jumped teammate Robbie Yaokum for the lead. This lead duo, with hundreds of laps on the banked quarter-mile, were not the whole story as veteran James Powell and local track champion Mike Bresnahan were in a heated battle for third spot.
Powell finally wrestled second spot away from Yaokum on lap 105 and took off after Carlton with Bresnahan hot on his rear bumper. No one was able to advance, and they crossed the stripe in that order with Carlton claiming his second win of the year. Rich Pratt and local runner Herb Neumann rounded out the top five finishers.
The Florida Pro season concludes on Sunday, Dec. 3 in a 200-lap event on the high banked half-mile at Columbia Motorsports Park in Lake City.
