Kittleson Keeps Points Lead | (Orlando, FL; 10/27/2000) Current points leader, Travis Kittleson, had a little luck go his way in winning Friday night's 25-lap Super Late Model event at Orlando Speedworld.
Heat race winner, Justin Drawdy had the pole with Bill Pratt outside of him and the two raced that way for 3/4 of a lap before bumping together in turn four. Kittleson barely squeezed by the spinning duo as the caution flew. Pratt and Drawdy pitted with only Pratt able to continue although the damage forced him to finally park his mount for the night a few laps later.
Kittleson dominated the remainder of the event. A slowdown near midrace for a problem with Eddie King's car was the only thing to slow Kittleson's run to the checker. Tom Root had a great car and was running third, but was forced from the race with an oil leak. Rusty Ebersole trailed Kittleson to the stripe followed by David Hart, David King, and Perry Lovelady.
It was Kittleson's eighth win of the season. Jason Boyd captured win number 13 in the Modifieds, leading flag to flag. Action was halted on lap three for a hard crash on the frontstretch involving John Wills and "Hoot" Flynn. Neither driver was hurt, but both were done for the evening. With two laps to go, third-running Wayne Parker blew a rear tire and was also forced to the sidelines.
Frank Polly drove a great race to end up second behind Boyd. John Foerg was third over Shane Held and Skip Honaker.
After six laps of side by side racing, it was Rich Clouser who finally came out on top of the Sportsman main over Richard Hight. Kelly Jarrett, Mark Griffin and Jeff Wright rounded out the top five.
The Dwarf cars were back and with a starting field of 24, the action was wild. Mark Landis led most of the way topping his brother George Landis for the win. Series Champion Michel Fortin came home third in front of Brian Paradis and Don Hess. Rick Lundeen, Alain Paradis, Dan Berry, Marc Andre Gagnon and Yves Langrois rounded out the top ten.
After rebuilding his car from a bad crash the week before, Duane Freed ran away from the Super Stock field, outrunning Homer Gordon, Bob Wines, Rob Watford and Charles Fry.
Kenny Hankins took his tenth Mini-Stock win in dominating fashion over Geoff Williams, Gary Green, Rose Dickerson and Jeff Davis.
