Columbia Ends 2000 Regular Season

(Lake City, FL; 10/28/2000) On the final night of the regular season, veteran Eddie Gainey picked up the lead on lap seven and hustled to the win in the 25-lap Late Model Stock feature at Columbia Motorsports Park.

Michael Haigh and Fain Skinner led early, but when Gainey got in front, it was all over as he ran to his fourth victory over Lee Faulk, Al Beckleheimer, Jr., Chris Tedder and Haigh.

Richard Ferry proved to be the best of the Florida Modified set as he grabbed the lead on lap five and never looked back. Russ Miscally gave chase, but settled for runner-up money over early leader Shannon Smith, Rick McManaway and Nick Brown in the 20-lap run.

Jeff Prescott came off the outside of the front row to lead all 20 laps in winning the Street Stock finale. Trailing at the stripe was Nick Reid, Marty Wood, Randall Jackson and Brad Fiene.

John Ray McNeal scored his first career win in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature. Youngster Nevin Gainey collected second money in front of Jerry Fortner, Trish Berry and Danny Coleman.

Suzie Wheeler borrowed husband Ray's Pure Stock and won the special Powder Puff event over Laurie Hodson and Karen Norman.
