Powers Awarded Win In 50-Lap Pure Stock Hartley Memorial At Hialeah | (Hialeah, FL; 10/21/2000) Charlie Coyle made his first start here since June and proved that the layoff was no problem as he led wire-to-wire, easily winning the 25-lap Late Model Sportsman feature Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Tuning up for some late season events, Coyle jumped from the outside of the front row and never looked back, stretching his margin to a half lap at one point. Charlie Bible gave chase but settled for second over Bob Regula, Bobby Shelton and Danny Maddox.
Mini-Stock standout David Russell jumped into a street stock and garnered his first win this season. Corey Crisafulli paced the first seven laps before a solo spin took him out of contention as Russell took the top spot. Once in front, Russell held off Mike Orth for the victory in the 25-lap run with Craig Seewald, Chalo DeCastro and Crisafulli completing the top five.
A very controversial Mini-Stock main event found point leader Kenny Strong the victor over Russell. Hard running Buddy Sizemore checkerd third in the 25-lap run over Bob Goode and Tedd Callihan.
Pure Stock runners honored the memory of Roy Hartley in the eighth running of the 50-lap event for the former track regular. David Drury was flagged the victor but could not get his car past the inspectors and Mike Powers was awarded the win and with it the point lead as well. Lynn Reid, Roger Pfau, Ken Voight and Gabe Hernandez completed the top five runners in the 22-car field.
Bruce Moerlins topped Scott Evans in the special tire race.
