Rickert Claims First Victory in Cyclone Feature at Hialeah

(Hialeah, FL; 10/14/2000) Late Model Sportsman points leader Gary McGoron helped pad his margin Saturday night as he ran to a strong win in the 25-lap feature event at Hialeah Speedway.

Veteran Larry Rogero, making only his second start of the year, paced the first five laps until ignition problems saw him fall out as McGoron took command. Never looking back, McGoron sped to his second win of the season over Bobby Shelton, Danny Maddox, David Myer and Bob Regula.

Craig Seewald scored one for the Ford faithful as he led the Street Stock field in a wire-to-wire run in his Thunderbird. David Russell checkered second in the 25-lap run over Rick Lutz, Corey Crisafulli and Mike Orth.

Russell and arch-rival Kenny Strong played cat and mouse throughout the 25-lap Mini-Stock run with Russell prevailing for the 12th time this season. Jim Miner was a distant third over Harold Cross and Bill Miner.

Ken Rickert topped the 22 car field to claim his first Cyclone victory of the season in the 25-lap run. A fast closing Richard Valentine was second ahead of Wayne Payton, Mike Blinco and Bruce Moerlins.

Mini-Cup action saw Bret Jameson win both his heat and the feature with a good drive over Chris Heilmann and Doug Capps.
