Bob Regula Speeds to First Late Model Sportsman Win at Hialeah | (Hialeah, FL; 9/30/2000) With his own car out of action with engine failure, veteran Bob Regula jumped into the car normally driven by Bobby Shelton and sped to his first Late Model Sportsman feature win of the season Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway. With Shelton out of town, car owner Charlie Bellavia tapped Regula to steer the #26 Camaro and the decision proved to be a good one as Regula paced all 20 circuits of the flat third-mile oval for the victory. Danny Maddox chased Regula throughout but settled for second money ahead of Kendrick Gomez, Gary McGoron and David Myer. Street Stock action saw Richie Henry battle a very loose car but he was able to hang on and claim the win in the 25 lap feature. Craig Seewald had his Thunderbird under Henry on several occasions but could not gain the lead and settled for runner-up honors. Mike Orth checkered third ahead of Fred Schenk's Dodge and Bob Hogan. David Russell continues his assault on the Mini-Stocks as he racked up feature win #11. Points leader Kenny Strong checkered a strong second, just nipping Buddy Sizemore. Early leader Bill Miner and Tommy Dittmer rounded out the top five. Cyclone action saw George Morales dominate the cyclone class as he grabbed the lead early and was never headed. Frank Kelliher, Mike Powers, Bruce Moerlins and Don Morey were next to the strip in the 25 lap run. The accident-marred, 15 lap Figure-8 main win went to Roger Pfau with an easy drive over Nick Fulco and Gabe Hernandez.
