Chad Allman Tops New Smyrna Late Models | Super Late Model: Justin Drawdy (#12 ) was confident after winning Friday at OSW, and he looked especially stout in the heat race. He lined up on the outside pole with David Rogers’ #11 TM Ranch Dodge inside at the start of the feature. Justin came off 4 in the Hamke chassis MC and powered past David to take the lead going into turn 1. He drove a smart, fast race until David’s experience let him slip under Justin and grab the lead and eventually the win. Travis drove the #88 Bob Steel Chevrolet to third place finish over Jeff Emery #12, and Jeff Anderson #10 who put on a good show.
Late Model: Chad Allman was back in the Gator Golf #67, and held off a hard charging Tank Tucker driving Randy Dye’s #43 Country 93.1/Speedway Dodge Avenger. Tank came away with the runner-up spot ahead of rookie challenger Chad Pierce in the #57 Biscuits and Gravy / ASM Chevy. Roger Wren #61 and Bruce Lawrence #16 completed the field.
Modified: Wow! Jim "Hoot" Flynn #57 drove a perfect race to get his first career NSS win over a hard charging Bill Gunn in his brand new Lefthander #13 Blue rocket. Hoot was overcome with emotion as his crew congratulated him in victory lane. The fans were happy to see Hoot get one, especially with a big field of good cars on hand. Mark Vandevender was a close third in the Document Tech #7, Wayne Southard #00 ran fourth over Rookie Brad Bascom in the AM 540 white car. ( We had 12 cars cars)
Mini stock: Lightning struck twice as 14 Yr Old Rookie Eric Powell took advantage of a mechanical problem on Marty Pierce’s #75 Mustang to drive to his first victory in only 7 starts. Eric was so stunned as he was congratulated in Victory Lane that he barely managed to thank his dad Freddie, Bobby Sears, Arlyn Nofsinger and the rest of his crew. Seeing anyone get their first win is a huge thrill. Jim and Eric will be telling their grandchildren about this night. Charlie Staats 9AR ran 2d, JD Duncan filled in for Jim Engstrom in the #37 to drive a great race finishing 3d. Rex Christensen and Jamie McCague filled out the top 5 spots at the finish line.
Sportsman Bob Andercheck’s #90 KOA/ Marines Camaro fell out last week, but was back with a vengeance to dominate the Sportsman field . Bill Fuller again ran strong in the #43 to take second over Steve Reddit in the #1Blue Pontiac Gran Prix. New driver John Mc Keogh was fourth in the Firebird #69, David Love drove brother Bill's #2 for fifth.
SuperStock: Again, a huge field and a crowd favorite. Tim Ewing #35 put the cap on a great night for the "Hoot Racing" team by notching a big win over Daytona’s Charlie Merz in the Toy Box #57., and Jim Winterstein’s #13 Olds. Ed "High Side" Zikowski #7 charged on the top side to fourth over the Dodge of Mike Hendrix.
Strictly Stock A 2 time winner!…Brent Brown drove the #57 black Business Archives/ Hoot racing Buick boat to his second win in a row over Joe Arnold in the #1, Chris Sadowski in the #37, Steve Dembenski and #78 Richard Boulton.
Allison Legacy Cars put on quite a show as they had a 7 car tangle on the first lap. The night became easier and #33 Brad May took the win over #88 Emily Harkins with #00 Jeff Conyers, #60 Andy Chisholm and #9 Doug Benjamin, Jr. filled out the top five.
The Wing Sprints are at Speedworld Friday Night, If that’s not exciting enough, NSS has the MATTRESS RACE coming up on September 9th!!! Great racing and Great people at OSW and NSS.
