Robbie Bean Scores Double Victories at Hialeah

(Hialeah, FL; 8/12/2000) Brian Washburn turned a rare start into a victory as he led wire-to-wire to win the 25-lap Late Model Sportsman feature event Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.

Running a very limited schedule this season, Washburn started on the front row and never looked back in taking the victory over point leader Gary McGoron, Bobby Shelton, Charlie Bible and Danny Maddox.

Steve Godlewski notched a wire-to-wire run in the Street Stock 25-lap main as he held off point leader Chalo DeCastro for his fourth win this season. Craig Seewald was third in his Thunderbird ahead of Mike Orth and Gary Padula.

Veteran Robbie Bean scored a rare double in taking his first Mini- Stock win of the season in Buddy Sizemore's Toyota and also copped the Outlaw Modified 25 lap main. In the Minis, David Russell ran a close second over Tim Jones, Steve Quick and Kenny Strong while Carlos Puig, Lance Hoverson, Randy Sands and Ted Hoverson trailed in the open wheel cars.

The 75-lap Cyclone headliner saw Roger Bohannon flagged the winner but his Chevy failed post-race inspection with Doug Hammond claiming the victory for his first win this season. Lynn Reid, Larry Welter, Bruce Moerlins, and J.R. Fitch were next to the line in the 31 car field.
